to say it was done to match Shar doesn't seem right or necessary to me.
Well pardon me! I thought it was an interesting observation, especially since if I didn't mention it someone was bound to ask me. (And of couse, without any Photoshopping, it's simply a still of Talas, and
would cause confusion.)
What I find interesting with all the licensed novels and comics is that none of them have ever shown a mixing of Andorian antennae types, so perhaps the individual differences are so common that no one ever mentions them but, in canonical ST, antennae types always stick together. eg. We've never seen TOS Andorians in the same frame of a comic as TMP Andorians, the TMP newspaper strip only featured TMP Andorians, and we've never seen a TNG Andorian drawn with ENT antennae, etc.
Or maybe all Andorians have identical antennae, and we are supposed to mentally edit them to look like Shran?
I have no problem with variations; just look at the many antennae variations in Earth's insects. Mind you, if four differently-antennaed Andorians were in one bondgroup, the offspring's antennae would be like a lottery.
If the tie-ins take a subtle lead from canonical ST, then antennae types do tend stick together, so as Shar has TOS antennae, it's likely (but not compulsory) that his
zhavey and bondmates will be similar.
The last time a comic book did a Trill story, it chose to draw bumpy-headed TNG Trills with spots, and cast shadows across the forehead bumps.
