These are the Voyages

Another thing I don't get is why Frakes and Sirtis agreed to do it. A payday? I know that actors, as much as anyone else, want to work. But why this?

From what I understand, both Frakes and Sirtis asked that very same question. Why do they want us to be in the series finale of a show that has nothing to do with us? I believe they even stated that they had misgivings about stealing the limelight from the ENT cast.

And yet, that didn't stop them from taking the job.

They have to pay the bills of their beach-house or yacht or Jet or whatever...

I suspect that committing to an acting part only to find that the end result isn't all that you'd hoped for isn't an uncommon phenomena.

Among other things, there's no accounting for how editing might impact the final product.

I don't believe there was much ambiguity as to what the final product would look like, even before editing.

I don't know about Frakes, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that Sirtis has none of those things.

It may not always be polite.

I prefer to start small when it comes to getting kicked out of places. I'll save the being frog-marched and thrown on the sidewalk for the more experienced.

You may not have a choice.
Just remember to shout "don't tase me bro!" at the top of your lungs for full effect.

Uh, These Are The Voyages. Hmm, doesn't ring a bell. Was this an episode of Enterprise? Nope, looking through my Netflix now. Season Four ends with Terra Prime. That was the finale, right?

Seriously, I've decided that a good policy is to not watch series finales. TNG's All Good Things aside, there just aren't many really touching, thoughtful send-offs for my favorite shows (I'm looking at you, Burn Notice).

I thought DS9 had a great finale. Voyager not so much.

As someone who doesn't like TNG (the TV series anyway), there is no upside to TATV.

Here's a scenario: Riker, Troi and the Titan are in orbit of Romulus post-Nemesis, working with the government to sign a peace treaty. During this time, it is revealed that the wreckage of the NX-01 is on Romulus, including its flight recorder. Riker and Troi use the Titan's holodeck to recreate and observe the last moments of the NX-01 and her crew, which up until then was a complete mystery.
A great idea. I was going to say they might have wanted to avoid the stink on Nemesis, but considering ENT's reputation it couldn't really have hurt. My only objection is I prefer to think all my favourite characters lived to a ripe old age. (And Archer has to survive so his dog could be referenced in ST09.)

"Terra Prime" would almost work, except the final scene with Trip and T'Pol is sort of downbeat. If Archer's big speech at Starfleet Command had been moved to the final scene, it would have been a more uplifting conclusion.
^ This too.

I favor that attitude; if something Trek doesn't work for me, for whatever personal reason that is important to me, I ignore it. In one case for me, like the above episode that doesn't ring a bell for you :techman:, there is one series episode (different series) that just doesn't exist for me. No prob, no fuss, no muss. Gone from my Trek library. :bolian:

It doesn't work for everything. You need to acknowledge a turd on the sidewalk in order to sidestep it.

The first time I watched the series, I posted about it here. I was warned by several fans of the series to just not watch TATV. Well, come on, I took that as an invitation! Bad boy, dub. Bad boy.
