There's no point in seeing "Avatar" unless it's 3-D, right?

Basically, if the 2D version is crap, than a 3D version will just be crap in 3D.

The 3D version has some well realised effects that make it possible to sit through what is, at best, a rather average plot.

The ensemble is worth seeing in 3D, there's nothing illogical about that. If I wanted to watch something on my TV, I'd plump for so many others in its place, but on the big screen, it fares considerably better.

What is the 3D like? Do Arrows actually come out of the the screen?

I've seen the 3-D film twice but I am partly blind in one eye. When I saw the films with the glasses. It just looked smoother.

Saw the movie in 2D with my sons when the 3D projector crapped out at the theatre. I liked it a lot.

My sons went back later and saw it in 3D. They said it didn't add that much to the movie.

Nope. Mostly you see into the screen than things come out at you, if that makes sense.

Indeed, I was suprised by a scene showing nothing more than people piling out of beds in zero g, with the bunks stretching far back into the background.

There is one kewl bit where one of the be-tailed ones turns around with a spear in their hand, first the tail pokes out one eye, then the spear the other :)

Much to my surprise, I ended up seeing this movie again today. My friend asked if I wanted to see it in IMAX before it left, and I said sure. I enjoyed it much more this time around, probably because I wasn't terribly focused on the story, and I spent most of the time looking at all the cool FX I hadn't seen the first time.

I'd much prefer to see it in 3D, as it was much more immersive. I'll probably buy the DVD, though, because it's an enjoyable film either way. I'll be going to see it again on its re-release later this year, though.
