We also have Mulder and Scully having visions/daydreams about their long lost son. Could it be possible that William is actually using his own mental powers to reach out to them? Is there any possibility that Willian will return before this series' end?
Yes. CSM had an affair with Mulder's mom. Fox and Jeffrey Spender are half brothers.Wasn't the CSM Mulder's father? There was something but I can't recall. Or had something to with the father...
*puff* Fox, *puff* you are my father! *puff*
Yeah the alien mythology started out really compelling and gripping to watch, but after a while Carter piled on so many twists and new players and made it so convoluted that it just became hard to know who the real enemy was, or what Mulder and Scully were actually supposed to be fighting against.
And of course now that the entire thing, and all that we saw, is being dismissed simply as a "smokescreen" to cover up an even larger conspiracy, it's even harder for me to take seriously.
A new issue of the Season 11 comic came out today. It's kind of weird that we're getting two independent continuations of series at the same time.
This exactly. I stopped paying attention to it back in 98', since it was becoming a joke. It was started originally since Gillian was pregnant and they just went from there. And it could be downright confusing at times.
But by that point in season two, the mythology hadn't even been developed yet. Columbus had not originally planned out the details of the alien conspiracy and was just winging it. Sometime during late season two, IIRC, when the show got popular, he wrote out the show bible.
You are correct on that, it was never a "bible" only a guide. It's kind of funny that I remember more about the behind the scenes stuff than the actual plot details. For me, the strength of the show was always in the characters and the atmosphere/tone of the series. In fact, because of that, many stand alone episodes were much stronger than the ones tied into the conspiracy. It was still in its infancy. And he never had a show bible. That's one reason why the XF has gotten on my nerves at last after all these years. Guess I'm tired of writers/show runners doing just that.
i've been enjoying those comics for the most part. i'm curious if IDW will continue with its own comic continuity or begin something new that follows season 10.I feel bad for IDW. They did a decent job with their Season Ten and Season Eleven titles (in fact, I hope the revival takes its cue from them on how to "resurrect" the Lone Gunmen) but their continuation of M & S is pretty un-reconcilable with the new canon.
Like the Star Wars EU, these books have been shunted into "alternate universe" territory. It'll be interesting to compare the two versions when both are done.
I'm looking forward to the new X-Files comic series launching in April that's supposed to tie-in with the new episodes.

I also think the show lost a lot when it moved to L.A. The British Columbia location with its harsh and spooky terrain was as much a character in the series as the actors.
