The X-Files : Season X (Spoilers!)

The Mulder/Scully/William daydreams were really well done in tonight's episode. I wasn't expecting something so moving to happen this time out.

I was already greatly anticipating next week's show -- a new Darin Morgan episode! -- and now, after seeing the ad for it, my anticipation has doubled. Did I see someone sporting Darren McGavin's signature suit from Kolchak?

Next Monday can't come fast enough!

Me too. I've long since given up caring about the overarching mythology and I'm not about to start again. Its just going to be another smokescreen anyway. Let's get on with Mulder and Scully encountering the monster of the week.

Is this true that The Lone Gunmen are going to return? From beyond the grave? Oh well, if CSM can survive a barrage of rockets, I guess that anything is possible.

Rhys Darby is indeed dressed like Carl Kolchak in next week's epidode. Geekdoms are colliding, and my head is going to explode.

Just watched the first episode from last night on Hulu...I liked it...looking forward to the rest.

Just wanted to mention that, in a bit of synchronicity, Gillian Anderson is also in a supporting role of War and Peace, which is airing on Lifetime, A&E, and the History Channel. Part 2 premiered Monday (yesterday), immediately after The X-Files at least on Lifetime. (Don't expect too much Gillian Anderson, but she looks fantastic.)

Word is that fox will be airing the episodes out of order too

Actually yep

tonight's episode was out of order, it's technically no. 5. The actually no. 2 of this mini-series is not airing till Feb 8.

Well that's really annoying of them, but I guess it's not uncommon. Regardless, tonight's episode was really engaging, I greatly enjoyed it. And how about some of those disturbing make-up effects!

I will also note that I liked that they acknowledged the year 2012. "The countdown started in 2012, but nobody noticed" or whatever Mulder said. It reminded me of "Angel" and how the Apocalypse they've all been waiting for has actually been happening under the surface the whole time.

I really didn't like that. It kind of invalidated the previous myth arc in part. But I can see why they handled it that way.

They switched them around (1013) since they figured it worked better story wise.

That's one thing I liked from this episode! Didn't see any history/connection or chemistry between M & S at all this time. At least in ep 1 it showed up at times. So this ep was rather underwhelming for me. :(

I actually like the premise of a top-secret government project that involves human abductions and experimentation. The warring alien factions plot of the old series got convoluted at times; I just sort of stopped caring after awhile.

Since Tad O' Malley and the superpowered kids, Kyle and Molly, figure into the government conspiracy plot, I wonder if we'll see them again or hear them referenced in future episodes.

What a coincidence that one of the donors at the hospital where Scully works was very much involved in the mutation research. It wasn't clear to me why Mulder was the only one affected by the intense buzzing, and not Scully, but it appeared Kyle could concentrate his powers to target an individual, the way he did to Dr. Goldman.

Thanks for the link, marillion!

I was going to google Aztec, New Mexico today, but it totally slipped my mind. Now I no longer need to.:)

The story kind of fits with what we saw last night. And the Wright Patterson base connection was quickly mentioned in the premiere, as well.

I can't remember if an exact year was given in the time stamp at the beginning of the episode -- or if my imagination is filling in the blanks -- but I want to say that the episode's crash scene was set in 1947, not 1948 like the Aztec incident.

You're very welcome!

Funny thing is that around here, no one talks about it. It is nowhere near as popular as Roswell. Aztec is really known for some important early Native American ruins and has a great old historic main street.

On the plus side, the Aztec crash site is on public land, close to a main road, unlike the Roswell site which is WAY out of the way and costs you to see.

Anyone fancieing a trip out here to the Four Corners, let me know. First round at the 3 Rivers Brewery is on me!

That was better than last week. The William scenes were really well done and I just loved Mulder and Scully investigating an X-file case again. Next week's looks really cool. I'm a little bummed there's only four episodes left.

I had to work tonight, so I couldn't watch the new episode! Ugh.

I didn't realize they were doing the rest of these on Monday nights. That really bums me out.

So this episode had Ryan Robbins, Kacey Rohl, Aaron Douglas, Omari Newton and Vik Sahay. It's a convention.

In so many ways this felt quite old school X-Files. Except Gillian Anderson's voice which seems to have something of a tired and resigned timbre to it.

Like so many original episodes this case was left open ended with the two kids on the loose.

I haven't seen Monday's episode, and I liked Sundays fine.

However one woman goes "I was taken by men, not aliens" and Mulder believes / realizes that 30+ years of hiss life was a waste instantly?

He was also shown the Alien Replica Vehicle that he was told the Government possesses.

Still, it didn't feel right.

Also I have a theory about CSM. He's a clone. The Greys have cloning tech because they can no longer breed. We have that tech, so clearly he's a clone.

Oh... that's from Stargate? Whatever, still a clone. ;)

I'm just LOVING the fact we have new X-file stuff to take in here!!

I thought the pilot was fantastic. When they threw the twist in there about the Aliens my mind almost blew up trying to link it with all the Alien stuff in the original series :-)

Most appropriate to have a monster episode as a #2. My only gripe was the cliche' conversation Scully had with Moulder on the street. It just felt like they were saying it because some fan threw it in the script.

I personally think the X-Files was the best when investigating UFO's/Aliens/shadow government etc. So I hope we get more of that as these 6 episodes wrap up.

Great numbers (not surprisingly)... hope this results in more new X-Files!!

Whistles (do do do do de do)

(y)
