The X-Files : Season X (Spoilers!)

Is there any way CSM could have escaped before the missiles hit? I haven't seen the finale so I don't know how that whole thing played out.
He didn't try to escape. He just sat there puffing and waiting until the flames and concussion of the explosions reached him.

He was dead. Cold. Assumed room temperature. A non-living person. A corpse. Waiting for Saint Peter. There is no way he walked out of that cave...except in the egotistical "My-shit-doesn't-stink" brain of Chris Carter.

The crash seen in the beginning was in northwestern New Mexico and not Roswell. Any mentions of Roswell came from modern characters -- Mulder, O'Malley, the Old Doctor -- with the Old Doctor even saying the "smokescreen" line about it.
Ah. So maybe the bit about the Roswell crash being a smokescreen is that the Roswell crash was staged to cover up the actual crash in northwestern New Mexico?

So it
We literally see the missile blow up and melt his face off. So...no, not really.

A bit of info about the Aztec, NM crash.
Welcome to Aztec

Thanks for the link, marillion!

I was going to google Aztec, New Mexico today, but it totally slipped my mind. Now I no longer need to.:)

The story kind of fits with what we saw last night. And the Wright Patterson base connection was quickly mentioned in the premiere, as well.

I can't remember if an exact year was given in the time stamp at the beginning of the episode -- or if my imagination is filling in the blanks -- but I want to say that the episode's crash scene was set in 1947, not 1948 like the Aztec incident.

CSM looks younger in season 10 than he did in the series finale. Maybe it was a double who died. It's the X-Files so almost anything can happen to explain his return.

I thought it was brilliant, the nu-conspiracy as it were is bat-shit insane but could actually be plausible given what's happened before in the series.

I really should have rewatched the series as a whole as planned before this evening though.

I have to wonder just how deep they can get into this new conspiracy, if there really is one, in just two episodes.

Only the first and last episodes are conspiracy based episodes, the others are Monster of the Week episodes. They wanted to recreate the complete feel of the show.

Less than an hour from another new X-Files episode.

I think I'm more excited for tonight's story (by James Wong) than last night's premiere.

Mulder and Scully, working a bizarre case...All is right in the world.
