The worst of the Villians

Trek fans who didn't watch the show because it was to dark and didn't go anywhere hurting the ratings.:)

Jason

I think The Founders were the worst villians. They kept a slave race of drug addicted warriors to serve them. They brutally crushed any resistance to them, not just for the people resisting, but for all their future generations in some cases. They thought nothing of destroying entire races, as they attempted to do to the Cardassians. There is nothing redeeming about them.

Gul Dukat was a madman. He was always an egomaniacal madman, he just needed Ziyal's death to tip him over the edge. He committed atrocities, big and small. But, we also got to witness his other side. He was capable of love. Selfish love, maybe, but he did feel love for others. This does not take away from his evil side, it just makes him more interesting to me.

Kai Winn was my favorite villian. Louise Fletcher was just so good as the Kai. She was an onion of a character and we got to see that there was good in her. She was just so flawed and she was unable to see that.

What is interesting to me, is that here in the USA, we have Kai Winn's popping up with more frequency. People in power using their religion as a tool of of control, of subservience. And when questioned, these politicians defer to their "faith" as a catch all excuse.

So, maybe the worst villians on the show are The Founders, but the most realistic personality type for worst villian is Kai Winn.

Kai Wynn isn't "using religion" to elevate herself. She's an ambitious politician who is working through the framework of her society, which is very religious, even if not very well defined. She's not trying to co-opt some religious constituency over some othe constituency. An election on Bajor would see all candidates constantly appealing to the religion of Bajor. Sisko himself is a religious figure who later becomes deified...as in literally deified.

Do the Pah-Wraiths count as villains? If they do then they are definitely among the worst villains there are. Because for all intents and purposes their goal is to wipe out all life in the quadrant, nay the galaxy.

Sure you don't just like Dukat more than Winn? He did far worse things during his life than Kai Winn, and that's not all down to circumstance given the degree of power he wielded, even before becoming head of state. Feel like you're kinda making my point for me; while Dukat is a victim of circumstance, Winn is 'more potentially dangerous'. You're making excuses for things Dukat did do while denouncing Kai Winn for things she could have done.

Dukat was evil no doubt about it. But he was a victim of the fascist society he was brought up and indoctrinated in and didn't know better.

Kai win lived through the horrors of genocide then lived in a mostly free and peaceful society. She should of known better.

...

Wow! Dukat a victim? I completely disagree. For one thing, he was extremely intelligent, much more than Winn who was manipulated by him into becoming a Pah-Wraith cultist or whatever you call them. That was likely the reason she chose to poison him, btw. Winn would have probably refused to become a PWC, if offered the possibility right away. It took Dukat's progressive manipulation to convert her.

He was a product of his society.

Cardasians are practically brainwashed by the state into being hilters.

Worst villain of DS9?

REEEEY-OOOOOO VAN-TIKA.

How could anything be worse than watching Alexander Siddig pretend to be a comic book supervillain who speaks at 2 words per minute?

I thought the same thing.:guffaw:

He did that same performance when he played Hannibal ( the general, not the cannibal) in a TV movie.

So was Damar, but Damar died somewhat redeemed. Even by Cardassian standards Dukat was a butthead. i mean he's a spoonhead, but he's still a butthead.
