Capaldi as the Doctor has been great too. He's really grown into the role this year.

Has he, or has he regressed?

Last year we had something different, which admittedly may have ended up being offputting to some of the more casual audience but this year we have a slightly more grumpy version of Matt Smith with awful clothes, stupid sunglasses and that bloody guitar.

I hate the doctors outfit this year. I remember when people were complaining about Eccleston's look being too casual. Capaldi's look is a tshirt and hoodie and it looks like he just got out of bed. I was hoping that would be a 1 episode thing but it's been all season. It's my least favorite outfit of any of the new doctors.

At least some of what he's wearing are Capaldi's own clothes as well, so we can't blame it on someone else forcing him to dress like that.

So are we watching Capaldi or are we watching the Doctor? Seems like we're watching Capaldi.

She seems the kind of person who, if asked too many uncomfortable questions just bribes the questioner to be quiet. If that doesn't work, she resorts to less pleasant methods of persuasion.

It's not just a question of scaring/buying off one or two enquiries though. A self-styled aristocrat with a mysterious past popping up out of nowhere would attract official attention at the best of times. In the aftermath of a civil war, with everyone suspect and large swathes of the country effectively controlled by a paranoid theocratic militia (hardly the comedy yokels seen here), Me would be the one most likely to become exposed to less pleasant methods of persuasion.

Identity theft? There were no fingerprints or photo IDs at the time. Set upon an aristocrat in transit, trim her mayfly life by a few years, take her papers, become her.

^ The mulitude of friends, family, and associates of any aristocrat would undoubtely notice a difference!

That's why you do it to someone who's on a long journey and isn't likely to see anyone she knows, except those travelling with her, for a very long time.

OR... She could establish herself in one place and travel from there, every so often claiming to be the child of her last persona

Because it's boring.

More importaly once found the Time War starts all over again, so looking for it is a waste of time.

So we have this storyline set up at the end of the 50th anniversary episode and you're calling it a waste of time? Why set it up then? Why can't we have a coherent plot to come back to every so often?

Moffat has already apologised for restoring Gallifrey. Don't expect the Doctor to find or even look for it ever.

So now that episode becomes a really bad episode. Congratulations Moffet. You've taken the joy out of Doctor who and you ruined the 50th anniversary. Well done, sir. :wtf:

To be honest, given how much him and RTD have spoken in the past of how much they dislike the Time Lords, the fact he chose to restore Gallifrey in Day of the Doctor was one of Doctor Who's biggest WTF moments.

The 12th Doctor is seen at the freezing of Gallifrey in DOTD. Sooner or later his presence there has to be explained, doesn't it?

What further explanation do you need other than what's provided in the episode? The combined power sources of all the TARDISes is required to pull it off. Yes, that even means the next guy we haven't been introduced to yet.

Actually, as it turns out we apparently are getting an explanation for that some time this season, according to an interview with Capaldi. Which I think is unnecessary, I had assumed his bit in the Save Gallifrey campaign took place between Robot of Sherwood and Listen, and was perfectly content to never have the issue brought up again.

Interesting. To me, a defining characteristic of the Doctor has always been his foppish, more or less non-mainstream (depending on which Doctor) manner of dress (except for Eccleston).

When I watch Doctor Who, I don't expect to see a guy wearing everyday casual clothes.

I haven't seen any of season/series 9 yet... still waiting on Netflix. :(

Except the other Doctors don't summon Twelve. The bigwigs at Time Lord HQ are surprised by his arrival, and as of TOTD Eleven remains unaware of his existence. So it seems he shows up on his own initiative.

I liked Eccleston's dress, mainly the leather jacket because I thought it looked cool. Of course he was my first doctor and I didn't know better at the time. Now that I have 4 doctors to choose from Tennant's was the best with the suit coats and the ties.
