The "We think nacelles closer together is cool" Thread

Just curious....:vulcan:

I don't think the nacelles closer together is cool, but I *do* appreciate the spirit of this thread. Count me in :)

Are they the same distance apart in the first and second pic? I kind of like the first pic, but I think they look too close together in the second. And part of me thinks 'Hey, if an enemy ship gets in a lucky shot they can take out _both_ nacelles.'

^Hey, I was never a fan of the single-nacelle school of thought.

I think the ship somehow looks "bolder" with the nacelles further apart as well.

I've seen this ship frequently enough in the last few months that the original is starting to look odd to me. It's a good thing I'm fond of the 2009 design. :)

Looks good! Just a suggestion...maybe make "USS Enterprise" a little darker...or bolder...or both.
Honestly, I'm on the fence here. I LOVE the original Enterprise, but I like this design as well.:wtf:
I'm with you. As for the nacelles... they MIGHT look better further apart, but I think they work well enough as they are. I'd love to see someone's rendition of what they might look like further apart, just to be sure.

Love the curved pylons, love the nacelle design, love the overall ship.... but I have to admit the nacelles still look a little ODD to me so close together.

I don't think close-together nacelles look cool but I'm posting in this thread anyway to point out that they look silly.

See, in a front view, the nacelles look fine - they feel proportionally where they should be when one thinks about the Enterprise, but from above - it makes the rear end of the ship look terribly skinny - which throws it into a bit of a visual imbalance. It's a rare enough angle, though - and it didn't bother me onscreen - just in still photos.

I like them both ways. I like the original enterprise, I like the 2009 design. I'm easy to please. :)

I love the "hot rod" look of the new nuPrise though overall.

What is so hot rod about this ship?

All I see is clunky kids toy. Like it was designed from the start to end up as a merchandising article. Built in a contracted, clunky shape, with thick neck and thick pylons, and the nacelles so close together that a kid can grab the toy with one hand.

The original designs are elegant. It like a comparison between a swan and an ugly duck.
