This was the best tv I have ever seen! I was wrong, Trek is better then stargate!! If this continues like this it may even surpass my love of star wars! Worf Is way cool!! It could have been a movie it was done so well!! WOW! What a episode!

It really was a turning point for DS9. It could have jumped the shark with bringing in a character from another series, but they actually made it work.

This episode, followed by The Visitor, is the point where I realised that I loved DS9 more than TNG. A fantastic start to the fourth season.

But, epic as it was, the scale of events in later seasons manages to surpass it.

Yeah, it's pretty awesome :techman:

I deleted a whole spiel about lots of stuff you should probably just discover for yourself. Enjoy ;)

Great episode. It was typical of DS9....introduce the Dominion threat and have everybody expecting one thing and then go a completely different direction for a while. Having the Klingons become enemies again was a stroke of genius.

And what an enemy they were too. Some of the scenes from the Klingon war really made you realise how serious it was, I remember thinking "Damn, a proper Star Trek war" at the time, and then it just got better once the Dominion war started proper.

Funny thing is I can see thier point. The cardasi's are bad and cruel anyway so going after them stops more then one problem. It was not a mindless choice. Agree or not some Logic is there.

No, it wasn't a mindless choice, but you don't know the true motivation behind the war or its ultimate consequences yet. ;)

As for the Cardassians being cruel, the military and Obsidian Order were, but they were no longer in control. After the Obsidian Order were decapitated in The Die is Cast, the civilian Detapa Council took control of Cardassia from the military and began to bring about reforms. They had a chance to turn the Cardassian Union into a fair, democratic society, but the Klingon attack crippled their empire at their moment of liberation.

I saw the title and guessed it was you posting; I knew you'd enjoy this one. :techman:

"The Way of the Warrior" is definitely a great episode; a very strong start to season four. And it sets both the Klingons and Cardassians onto very interesting paths, in terms of politics and their role in the wider series.

Really, it shows just how good DS9's writers and showrunners were - taking something unplanned and studio mandated and spinning out of it an ambitious story that would in turn lead to you know what which would lead to you know what because of you know what ;). I think that's one of my favourite things about DS9, how the entire cause-consequence chain feels - even if it was devised on the fly - real, inevitable. Unlike some other shows (cough, BSG, cough).

Oh, you're in for a treat, OP. :techman:

It really is the point where Deep Space Nine goes from being "good" to being "excellent".

It's a good episode although not one of my personal favourites. I appreciate that a lot of people see this as the point where DS9 became great, but for me it was the last episode of Season 2 where they introduced the Dominion.

I also think that DS9 was already great by the time Way of the Warrior aired, but it IS a great ep, and a great way to start the season. Worf is used pretty well on DS9 as a whole, and I think there's a lot to look forward to in developments with the Klingons, the Cardies, and...well, if you really enjoyed this, I think you'll have a lot to look forward to. In addition to the big overarching stuff, I think it's also fun to watch Worf get acclimated to life on the station (Hippocratic Oath and Bar Association's B-plots in particular were good for that, I think).

That's when I really became a fan of DS9. I loved Worf in TNG, but he really was a more interesting character in DS9.

Can u c the future? :)

So the plot will thicken huh

This is my favorite DS9 episode. I love this episode. Reading this thread and typing this is making me want to pull out the episode on DVD and watch it.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say that I found this episode pretty weak. Not terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but it was so clear at the time that they were bringing Dorn in as an attempted ratings bump and turning the action up to 11 for the same reason.

This was one of my favorite episodes of all star trek. It really blew me away and it was like DS9's BoBW in that it was a total game changer to how the series operated. Seeing DS9 deploy all its weapons against the klingons was one of the most spectacular fights in trek history, as far as I'm concerned. I liked it so much that I even bought and read the novelization of this episode.
