The Way of the Prune Juice (it requires a strong stomach)

"Marsh melon" is so weird that I suspect that it's linked to some inside joke.

Definitely. Long story short:
In J.M. Dillard's novelization of Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (and in the original script to which William Shatner contributed), Doctor McCoy played a practical joke on Spock, reprogramming the computer to display "marshmelon" instead of "marshmallow". Although this wasn't filmed, the error in Spock's pronunciation and Doctor McCoy's delight in it are evident in the movie.

The novels had many "extra" scenes that were not filmed, but appeared in the original screenplays.

Anything with those Worf and prune juice bits makes me think of why it is sometimes drunk - constipation. You can't tell me Worf doesn't suffer that all the time. Obviously its not helping, lol.

I'm curious if there's a list of Starfleet personnel and their "signature" foods or beverages. Troi and chocolate, Picard and Earl Gray, Janeway and coffee, etc.

Earl Grey, named for the (real) British Prime Minister the 2nd Earl Grey, best noted for the Reform Bill that made representation in Parliament more equal by population and widening the franchise to include most of the middle class. Also the abolition of slavery throughout the British Empire. The black tea scented with oil of bergamot (a citrus fruit) was a gift to him at first, but he ordered more and it caught on.

Having just watched this, I always felt Sisko's actions bordered on the insane. They find out about the Klingons about to invade the Cardassian Union, which is an enemy state, and then they WARN the Cardassians about the attack that undoubtedly got a bunch of Klingons killed.

This preserves the Cardassian Union....and years later, the Cardassians become allies of the Dominion and the vanguard for their invasion.

Great job, Ben.

If only Worf had kept his mouth shut.

And he was supposed to look into the future and find that out...how? He wasn't the Christchild of the Prophets yet.
Plus, a hypothetical Klingon Empire that took all of the Cardassian Union could have seriously effected the balance of Power in the Alpha/Beta quadrants in a negative way.

And "Oh no it got a bunch of Klingons killed", dying in battle is, like, their exact fetish. Plus...well, that happens if you launch a war of aggression, people get killed.

Eh, just saying that it seems a bit...questionable....to warn an enemy nation about your allies.

Gowron had every right to be furious.

Oh, you aren't looking far enough ahead. By preserving the Cardassian Union, Sisko set up the Dominion War... which the Federation, Klingon, and Romulan alliance would ultimately defeat. What did Sloan say? The Klingons will be too weak to threaten anybody, so the Federation and Romulans will compete for control of the Alpha Quadrant. The Federation and Romulans both took significant losses, but since they were a smaller country the Romulan losses were greater in proportion to their size. They Federation will be set as the power in the quadrant for 100 years. Naturally for Ben to forsee all that at the time the Klingons invaded Cardassia took a little help from his mom the prophet. But it's all good for Bajor as well as the Federation.

Seriously, what the hell is that?

It's been said the food was often it was chunks of fruit hit with food coloring.

Trip and Catfish, Reed and Pineapple, B'elanna and banana pancakes, Phlox and egg drop soup, Tom Paris and pizza, Spock and Plomeek Soup.

Sisko and Cajun/Creole food.

In that case, it's extra special, since the Sisko family are very good at COOKING that kind of food, not just eating it.

Whenever you're asked "Kirk or Picard?" Just say "Sisko" and be done with it because this story is one of many that exemplifies the fact that Sisko is the best.

It depends what you're looking for in a captain, doesn't it? If you want some who'll do whatever it takes to win a war or successfully raise a son, it's Sisko. If you want the best diplomat in the quadrant or someone who will uphold the principles of the Federation wherever possible, it's Picard.
