"The Wand Company" classic Tricorder

The US Trade Court just vacated all Trump's tariffs yesterday (because they're illegal). I hope Wand can get a container of these to the USA before the SCOTUS overturns that decision.

And then a federal court paused enforcement of that ruling and gave both sides until sometime next month to prepare arguments for and against. So the tariffs are still in effect for the time being.

Well that's terribly annoying.

Same---but not talented enough to make good GOOD
My assembly of the kit was certainly bit very refined, but just its existence was leagues better than the "make do" items my friend and I used previously, things like empty makeup compacts for communicators and binocular cases from tricorders.

I came across a YT video a day earlier this week and the host just mercilessly "roasted" the kit, stating particular frustration about the scale and lack of perforations in the comm's antenna lid. Oy, was the fellow not aware the kit was intended for (arguably young) kids engaging in roleplay? The final assemblies were fragile enough as they were. The "emitter" of the phaser could easily snapped off and the "rod" that allowed the comm's lid to "flip" could crack apart during enthusiastic playtime.. Perforations would have made the "antenna" insanely brittle and full scale props would have felt oversized in a young child's hands.

I suspect the "host" presented a scathing review just to garner comments and thus "traffic" for his channel. Surely he could not have been so clueless. Am I recalling the kit through the rose tinted glasses of nostalgia? Sure, but I also acknowledge the intent of the kit and as such and thus feel a bit more forgiving of its "flaws". Again, it was far better than using a pink, round makeup compact as a communicator! (My friend claimed a rectangular black one as his. :angryrazz: )
