The Walking Dead: World Beyond

Tell that to AMC's "nto the Badlands" which was canceled as soon as it dipped into 1.2 million viewer territory in its third season.

That said no, AMC isn't going to cancel any "TWD Universe" series no matter how bad the ratings get because their programming department seems to love The Walking Dead IP and has invested so much money and has a multi-year marketing and release schedule that unless everything suddenly craters - yeah they'll just ride it out.

I wonder if cost is a factor too. World Beyond hads a way smaller cast (regulars and extras) and cheaper special effects and no martial arts coordination and sets that are just àbandoned places. Also this is PR for the Rick movie (s).

Oh and I saw a commercial of World Beyond that Talking Dead is a feature of AMC Plus... so I guess THAT is the main draw for their service... and why we don't see it or the usual commercials

Weird that nobody picked up Into The Badlands... The Expanse was rescued by Amazon with half the ratings that Badlands had... Bad demo maybe?

The Expanse had the added benefit of having, oh .... I don't know, the major share owner and Boss of Amazon as a big fan..... :)
Not to mention several other fans of notable prestige. Buzz Aldrin is allegedly a fan and even arranged to have the cast invited to an event at NASA. So while its ratings may never have lit the world on fire, it's still seen by many as a prestigious enough show to justify taking a chance on continuing it.

Ooops! Exapanse, definitely. World Beyond could live or die tomorrow and I don't think it would matter to much of anyone, TBH. It doesn't suck handily, from what I've seen, but it's not groundbreaking horror either.

Me, I want them to run into The Group That Wants Their Stuff and have it turn completely sideways for the teens. Then maybe later that group ends up on the Daryl/Carol spin-off and we see them easily defeated by a pair of professionals.

They really should have had a 5th teenager that was cocky and did well on the simulations, but then gets literally eaten alive when they get their 1st or 2nd encounter.

Right now it feels like a school field trip.

We're not doing spoilers, right? I mean, whoever is reading this is actually watching the show, or cares so little that "spoilers"are irrelevent, right?.

Some random thoughts:

So they picked a great actor to pick as young Elton. He fit really well and showed good emotion.

The raft building scene felt like something from a feel-good 70's show (especially with the music)

Did i miss seeing any fireworks? (like didn't the previews have the raft shooting some off?) They were neat the store, but didn't use any or pick any up?.

SO Felix is Iris and Hope's "adopted brother" (kinda sorta), which makes sense... but i assume we also will get us a flashback of that?

Previews have them finally running in to someone. SO is he "bait" or a real person? ANd if so, how long will he last?

The show seems almost like a fan film, where it feels kinda cheap. Maybe they are saving it for later, but this episode seemed really low budget.

Speaking of low budget, the ads say Talking Dead is on AMC+/ Is that show REALLY going to entice anyone to sign up?
I suppose it is cheap enough to be worth making exclusively for the service, and the subscriptions gained due to that could easily pay for the cost. Has anyone watched since the move off the main network?

Not much to say about this one except they need to do a better job thinking up the titles. This one, Madman Across the Water suggests that when they get across the water, they will meet a madman, but the reveal of said madman, is the cliffhanger twist the episode ends on. So they gave away their twist ending with the episode's title. Brilliant move.

I quit watching Talking Dead after Andy Lincoln left the show. It was fun to watch when TWD was a cultural phenomenon, but it just seems pointless now. The main draw of AMC+ is getting the episodes two days earlier and the occasional extended episode, but not really worth it to me.
