The Walking Dead: World Beyond

The military is portrayed pretty horribly in most disaster movies too. I think it's pretty feasible that the American military would do whatever they could to control a zombie apocalypse, morally right or wrong.

The show has certainly taken a turn for the better. A lot of the dumb things this show seemed to be saying earlier wasn't actually the show's perspective - as suspected - it was actually the perspectives of teenagers, and a spy working for the circle gang.

I gave up tonight on episode 3. Just couldn’t attach to the story or the characters, which is kind of important when watching a serialized show. Oh well... Back to Fear...

I agree this show has gotten better in the second half. I’ve also just watched the last two episodes (9 and 10) and these are definitely the best episodes of the season. I find the storyline actually interesting now and would be sad if they didn’t get the final 10 episodes. This is saying a lot since after episode 4 I thought the series was terrible.

I think the second and final season has already been announced, though nothing keeps them from changing their minds I suppose...

Things really got interesting at the last...two tropes used...shades of An American Werewolf’ and ALIEN (expendable line)

The barbed wire walkers looking like a zone of weather moving in would make for a nice name for a band:

ZOMBIE FRONT

well, at least they answered a lot of questions for us by te end...but at the looks of this thread, not everyone made it (unlike the main characters).

So some mysteries for next season

1. Is Will REALLY a "rebel", or with the CRM (another Deep Cover agent like Huck, since Mr. PhD was fooled by her too in the interview)?

2. Why did they wipe out Campus Colony?

3. How did Huck go from noble soldier (willing to kill her fellow soldiers to save innocent people) to working for the CRM (and killing people to do so).

I guess they made it worth re-watching the beginning, so see what clues were dropped at (such as how Hope's rebellion was seen but not at all visibly addressed by the Lt. Colonel.)

Also, i was worried for a second that they would do the trope of the Great White Hope (pun intended), but revealed that it is actually them TOGETHER that makes them powerful.

But still wonder how this fits into the great Walking Dead plan. How will this fit in with the Rick Movies (if they happen???), the end of TWD, and Ride with Darryl and Carol.

Considering we see him being chased by CRM soldiers who were shooting at him when none of the other characters were around, he likely really is a rebel. There'd be no need to put on an act like that without an audience.

I suspect Huck's backstory from a few weeks back showing her defying her superiors and saving the innocent people who were due for execution was a fabrication. Note at the start of this episode during her conversation with Lt. Col. Mommy, Huck says she gave herself the scar on her face as part of her infiltration cover, despite in the flashbacks a few weeks ago she slashed her face in memory of her boyfriend who had a similar scar on his face.

I was very impressed with the last half of the season. I did not see the twist coming at all. Michael Cudlitz's work in episodes 6 and 7 were the highlight of the show. I think he really got some natural, subdued performances out of the actors and it stuck around the rest of the season.

Sorry ...one other question...exactly how far did they travel? It doesn't seem like they even got to Chicago. It kinda speaks to the cheap nature of the show, which might be another reason it will go a 2nd season. Is there a map of their travels?

I really hope this really goes somewhere important next season... and while i like the idea of Hope AND Iris TOGETHER are important... i don't want them to be "twin messiahs" or something. Important... but key to the future of all humanity????

Oh, and speaking of maps...any sense of the CRM territory, and what they kinda scavenge over and/or "borrow"?

Well, we got a little duped there in the beginning. This certainly isn't a CW show... It doesn't quite make sense yet, but perhaps with a few more twists this finish winning me over... And that just goes to show that this kind of strategy isn't smart for showrunners. The ol' Lost bait and switch wont' always work because a lot of people will just give up before the twist that makes everything good and the show gets canceled...

How much does that f'n wrench weigh? Wouldn't that thing must be like 40-50 pounds?

Still, OK for what it was, I think the only new shows I'm watching now are Discovery and The Mandalorian.

The show got a little better at the end but I still feel this show is mostly unremarkable. Now that they are doing the savior stuff it really made me loose interest fast. So tired of the trope.

I just finished the second and final season. I highly recommend this show to Walking Dead fans. The second season is on par or better than the last couple of episodes of the 1st season. Pollyanna McIntosh has a several episode arc filling in for Julia Ormond and steals the show.

Thanks for finding this thread . I tried searching for it but came up empty.

Definitely better than 1st season... is there a reason we don't have Julia Ormond (who was brilliant). Pollyanna McIntosh is great too...though weird seeing her as a loyal CRM as opposed to what she was before.

I wonder how her transition wiĺl look like in the Rick movie?

Speaking of that. .. would you say the end transitions well into the Rick Movie?

I haven't seen the last 2 episodes ywt

Ormond is back for the finale. I would say this definitely sets up some kind of Rick and Jadis film within the CRM. I don't think we're going to be seeing any of the other characters except for maybe one who they might be setting up to be in a future project. It's not a great finale for the show, but more of a bridge. There's also an unrelated post-credits sequence that sets up another TWD series or film.

Yeah, the ending was so-so. I think they had hoped for more seasons, but when it was obvious that season 1 tanked from the first few episodes (and lack of buzz), that they still went ahead with a season 3 set-up (i wonder if Elton's injury was made up last minute, becuase he was back in action pretty quickly).

Now the connection to the Rick movies seemed very thin...like Jadis will essentially drop him off and join the CRM . Pollyanna is a great acrtress, but almost seems like a different character here (though they tried to bridge it in the last couple episodes)

And the end credits scene, which definitely showed the World Beyond (the USA) as well as a tie-in to TWD...
So they are intoducing fast moving zombies? Oh wonderful. ANd they are based in Toledo Ohio? So somehow avoiding the World Beyong group? And i assume the outer edge of The Commonwealth?

This show won't be missed...my wife didn't miss much

Best part of the finale was the post credits scene, as it takes it all back to that all-important episode of TWD. Loved that.
