Spoilers The Walking Dead: the 11th and final season

Figured I’d just ask this here rather than starting a whole new thread.

So I’m rewatching some Walking Dead, currently on s8. I’ve seen up to s10, but couldn’t remember much of 7-10 hence the rewatch. I’ve not seen s11 but don’t worry about spoilers as I’ve read what happens (and read all the comics)

Just watched s8 e12 “The Key”

What was that Georgie woman scene all about? Looking on IMDB she never even reappears. Is she related to the Commonwealth?

Was it just an excuse to eventually have some way to get Lauren Cohan/Maggie off the show? Seems kinda clunky if so, especially introducing an interesting concept and the doing nothing with it.. Which is what I’m asking, as I can’t remember what they *do* do with it

IIRC as well are they not related to the helicopter Rick saw in the sky a few episodes earlier?

I am not sure if Georgie was supposed to be the COmmonwealth when she was first introduced.

But if I recall, i think TWD said she was killed, and Maggie had essentially become the leader of the remnants of Georgie's group.

I don't think Laurie Cohan was expecting to return to TWD...she was hoping the new series she starred in would be a success and she could move on like Sonequa Martin-Green with Discovery.

But it failed pretty quickly, so i think Maggie was kinda shoehorned in, while they had the COmmonwealth plot already written. (ALso not sure if they really planned for that arc to be the abolutely final one...or at least season 11 to be the last of TWD. That seemed like a kinda abrupt announcement).


The Helicopter people are part of the Civil Republic Military.... we had hints of them in one season of Fear the Walking Dead. Jadis was connected to the group, and she joined them and was all-in during the 2nd season of World Beyond.

The CRM will be the main villains for Rick/Michonne series. However, other then the helicopter scene with Jadis & Rick...we never saw them again on TWD since then. Not sure if Lance Hornsby character in the last seasons of TWD was the one to keep them away from the COmmonwealth?

I believe Maggie tells Daryl that Georgie and her twin guards headed "out West" in search of other communities to unite, but that's the last she was referred to in the series.

The Commonwealth arc never mentions Georgie or her organization, so you could assume she was part of any number of similarly joined communities across the U.S.

I have a vague recollection there was another reference to Georgie. Maybe in one of the bonus episodes that were added onto season 10?

Looking back it does seem she ended up a red herring to make us think of the Commonwealth. IIRC, the actress kind of resembled Pamela Milton as drawn in the comics, something the actress was even questioned about in an interview round the time that episode aired. And in the start of season 9 when we see the new windmill built using Georgie's instructions at Hilltop, it does have "Commonwealth" written on it.

Season 11 was tremendous. I don't know why there is so much hatred towards the last seasons. I think the last 3 seasons are phenomenal as a whole.

I would say the only two seasons that were not really good was part of 6 and 7. 8 had it's faults too. But once Kang took over, it got just as good as the early seasons, especially season 11.

I am actually binging the show from the start again and am on season 2.

That depends on the "camps" which spawned the hate: one camp thought the gas had run out of TWD long ago, and should have been cancelled at least by season 8. Others wanted to see one Big Bad conflict over and over again, essentially looking for a Governor/Negan highlight reel, and if the villian was not on that level, the series was "all bad", while others were calling for cancellation (or wishing it would be) because they still resented Glenn's death and thought the series somehow lost its heart. there were more "camps" with complaints, but that's a sample of the type of viewers who complained about the last seasons.

I am rewatching the show. On 4th season after prison went down and everyone is separated. I am not a comic reader, so I have a quick question.........In the comics are the characters separated for awhile also? Or was that a tvthing?
