The Visitor

Regardless of which episode you think is the best of the series, "The Visitor" is probably more relevant to our daily lives than many of the episodes of the entire franchise that purport to explore our inner emotions (e.g. Inner Light).

I'm going to be outrageous and say it's okay, but not a favourite. Not even top ten. I like it as an episode, but I never rated it. It being Tony Todd was a bit of a problem for me too... hey it's Tony Todd,, and when I think that it's not Jake.

I find Whispers far more moving and is a favourite of mine.

Just curious what do you think about Hard Time? The reason I ask is because once you know the twist in whispers the impact for me is lost. Hard Time when OBrian is thinking about suicide is something that will always stick with me. It also reiterates DS9's mission statement I think.

Whispers for me doesn't lose impact, because knowing how the tragedy will unfold makes it powerful.

I don't overly like Hard Time, but then I don't like episodes like the Chute in Voyager either. Too grim for my liking, and let down by the fact that next week everything is hunky dory. I don't mind dark stories in shows, as long as I feel they are built upon not forgotten.
