That would be a worthwhile exercise--bring back some of these old-schoolers and see what kind of Trek they'd make when set loose.

Well, maybe. There were so many dumb self indulgent bits in new Galactica that were pretty clearly Ron Moore saying, ha! They never let me do THIS on Star Trek! that he might have gotten all that out of his system.
