The Vampire Diaries & The Originals

So, I was looking for a supernatural TV series I haven't seen yet and settled on The Vampire Diaries since I liked Being Human (US) and True Blood. I'm a few episodes into the 3rd season right now and enjoy this show. It's funny how all the different TV series have different rules for vampires. LOL

In any case, so far my favorite characters are Damon and Caroline. It looks like I got a lot of shows ahead of me for this series. :)

I am still watching TVD, although I threatened to quit. (Glutton for Punishment?)

I am enjoying the Originals which is surprising because 4 of the family members are in new bodies.

The actor playing Finn is good but the character is a tad one note. Hopefully the introduction of his beloved Freya will give him more depth. (I felt it was a bit contrived to have her entombed in NOLA with the rest of the family, but I am enjoying the actress thus far and am ready to give the show a pass.)

I rather like the "new" Rebecca. Sometimes it takes me awhile to take to a new person in a role, but I like her (which is interesting because Rebecca is my favorite original sibling).

I wonder if they are toying with really killing Kol or are they attempting to give him a bit more depth?

Finally got caught up on both shows. I've been really enjoying both of them this season. Of all of the new witches introduced on TVD Luke was my least favorite so I was glad that he was the one they killed.
Is there a specific real world reason that Bonnie has been off by herself most of the season?

Even though I am a huge Hayley/Elijah shipper, I like Jackson so I'm really hoping they don't kill him.
I am curious to see what Freya is up to exactly. I don't entirely trust her.
So I wonder if this is the last we'll see of Finn?
I liked that they were acknowledging that the bodie's the Rebekah and Finn are/were possessing were people, and not just empty vessels. It'll be interesting to see how they handle Eva now that she is taking some control. I hope they can get Claire Holt to come back, I've missed her.

I hate to say it, but I'm almost hoping Aquarius doesn't end up doing well, just so Claire Holt can go back to The Originals.

I'm horribly behind on this show. Over the recent days I did binge watch S4 and have S5 ready to go. Going to watch Arrow S2 first though(also behind on).

If I can get caught up on VD I'm curious to know if The Originals is worth watching?

The Originals has actually been the better of the two since it started, IMO at least.

Thanks for the feedback on TO.

Is the Silas/Steffan doppleganger stuff in S5 pretty good? I worry it might be a jump the shark thing. Especially with Catherine now human(or it seems that way from the last episode of S4).

TO S1 and VD S5 are the same year, yes? Is it crucial I try to watch it like that or can I just wait till I get up through S6?

The Vampire Diaries took a steep dive in quality when The Originals began. Don't let TVD boredom/annoyance keep you from watching The Originals.

Edit: No, you don't need to watch them at the same time.

I was hoping Bonnie would actually melt Kai's face. :( Don't blame her for showing Damon what she went through. Caroline needs to go, never liked her.

On TO; I trust Freya. I can understand how Klaus feels but as viewers we have seen enough to believe her. She probably has something else going on but so does all the characters.

Been watching Vampire Diaries streaming on Netflix so we are stuck at the end of the last season, switched over to The Originals and we like it a bit better. Same intricate plotting without all the teen romance angst which was getting a bit old. Another negative with TVD was trying to maintain the pretense they were in school- high school consisted on one class and expensively decorated parties, college has them wandering around until they return to the enormous dorm room with a fireplace. My dorm room was 18x30 with bunks...

Out of both shows my biggest question is the identity of the richest man in town- the guy who sells candles.

Elena is TVD. It will be interesting to see where they go with it. Guessing Salvatore family drama with mommy and her heretic friends plus Kai.

I won't miss either of the Gilberts. Nina Dobrev is a good actress. I loved Katherine, but Elena is whiny and dumb as a box of rocks. (Why did she not make a copy of that letter from Caroline's mother? Idiot!)

I am enjoying the Originals. Claudia Black is fantastic. However, I want Hayley and her pack to bite the dust. The wolves are just dull and cannot protect themselves from paper cuts much less Dahlia.
