Lets discuss something a little simpler; our avatars here at TrekBBS, where did you get yours, is it custom, did you make it from scratch, is there a massage in your avatar? Tell something about yourself and your taste and also give a shout-out to another avatar not yours that you liked and why.

I change my avatar as often as Daneel changes his underwear (by his own admittance), and it's almost always one I made myself.

Mine is a random grab from Google, looking for Black Holes. It's my version of doing a Halloween avatar, since I have a fear of black holes, so it counts as scary for me

...the usual is Ben Sisko with a rifle over his arm from Rocks and Shoals. Not sure why, I just liked that image

I made mine myself using Janeway's quote about her favorite beverage and a picture of her drinking it.

Unfortunately, there's no massage in it. There is, however, a message. I like coffee.

For a long time after the movie came out, mine was a pic of Seven of Nine with lots of added lens flare, which I also made myself.

I like another Janeway avatar around here that has PissedOff! Janeway and a little caption that says "not amused." I also liked the one with the ECH's four pips appearing. There are a bunch of good ones, but since I haven't had my coffee yet, I can't remember them.

Right now i have Michael C. Hall (who plays Dexter the serial killer) in a sombrero (which is a theme from the nuTrek Blue Warp Nacelles thread). I figured a serial killer would be appropriate for a halloween avatar. JP Trekker (aka JP's rotting corpse) made it for me. The man has mad photoshopping skills!

Before Dexter i had Yeoman Rand (from TOS)...and before that i had a whole bunch of different ones.

Don't know what i am going to use once Halloween is over. I might go back to Yeoman Rand's picture as my real ID is Yeoman Randi (which is my name).

So my avatar at the moment is obviously from one of the Star Trek (XI) movie posters, inverted of course, eventually I will do another new USS Enterprise NCC-1701 from among my collection of pictures.

My normal avatars here on TrekBBS usually feature a screencap of Tekeny Ghemor--right now, though, I'm in Halloween mode with (as Thor Damar/Loki Dukat called him) the Kosst Dukat. I usually have only one avatar I use frequently, and one for the Christmas season.

On the other forum I frequent, Ad Astra, I rotate my avatars much more frequently and they usually portray a fanfic character of mine. You can see my favorite in the DS9 Avatar Contest 117 thread--it's from a wonderful giftart that SLWatson did portraying my alternate version of Dukat ("the good twin").

As for my avatar, it changes occasionally too. Currently, I'm using a picture of the Robot Devil from Futurama, to go with my Halloween username. Not sure what I'll change it to when the month ends, but I'll think of something...

Currently, it's Ted and Barney (in halloween costumes) from How I Met Your Mother.

Before that, Ted and Robin (again HIMYM).

One of my longterm avatars from a variety of boards is Mark Harmon in his role as Gibbs from NCIS, but others occasionally make an appearance

I actually put up my new avatar last month not thinking about Halloween, though in retrospect it was a good fit. The image is from John Carpenter's "They Live".

Here's Wiki's intro to the film:
