The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Maybe because it would be a little too easy, or because Brendan Fraser would likely want to move beyond that, especially with his last Oscar win.

Rachel sat the last one out, Brendan doesn’t really look like he did 20 years ago and AFAIR the last one didn’t really set the world on fire.

Amazon has ordered Robocop to series for 2025-2026.
I think it is impossible for Robocop to meet that release date.

It better not make the remake mistake and make it PG-13 or the tv version of PG-13. I would love if it was also connected to the movies. Have a new cop now that Murphy is to old.
It's definitely going to be a Reboot and I think it's definitely going to be R rated. (I think it should be.) I wouldn't be surprised if it's something between The Boys and Blade Runner. I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of the actors from The Boys were cast in the TV Series.

I think the same. I also think whoever has the chutzpah to remake 1987's best movie should be shot 1000 times by a malfunctioning robot, thrown out of a speeding van, shot in both kneecaps and the groin, doused with toxic liquid, splattered to smithereens by a rushing car, exploded into nothingness, and then neck-slashed and shot out a 50-story window. How can any remake, reboot or ripoff top any MOMENT of that?

But perhaps if some fool sang a title-theme song, it just might? Let whatever's left of the director do that, too.:borg:

I'll buy that for a dollar! :guffaw:

The RoboCop remake wasn’t good but it wasn’t bad either. At least they tried to do something different, unlike the Total Recall remake which claimed they were going to be closer to the source material and then just copied the beats of the Arnold movie.

Did anyone watch the American TV series or Canadian TV movies?

Can’t wait for RoboCop to team up with Bosch, Cross and Reacher.

Hell, The Mummy Returns didn't even set the world on fire. Really, the 1999 Mummy was a fun enough movie, but it really should have stayed there.
It actually beat the first movie's box office take. $435 million to $416 million. So it was a pretty big deal.

Since it will be shot as a TV series rather than a movie, it will not be very similar to the first movie except for the main plot and characters.

I started watching the 1994 series on YouTube. But there are no subtitles except for YouTube's artificial intelligence. It's not bad so far. As for those TV movies, someone uploaded them on YouTube with subtitles, thank God, I watched them a few months ago. It wasn't bad.

One of the Cobra Kai showrunners says he's working on a spinoff. Didn't say what it was. Doesn't mean it will even happen.

either, they're going to make a series focusing on mr. miyagi's youth or there will be a series or a theater film focusing on the youth in the tv series. although the new karate kid movie might include sam at some point or talk about him and the other youth in the series.
