The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

I do not understand why Suits is so popular in streaming right now. I watched it when it was on USA, I was entertained, but these are awful characters who are awful lawyers. They just yell at each other for 3/4 of the show, make up at the end, then the next episode they're yelling at each other again. Suits makes Aly McBeal look realistic. And now there might be a revival because of this.

Never seen the show but you make it seem like their is lots of internal conflict among the characters. So lots of drama and since they are lawyers they are assholes but in the good tv kind of way. Maybe some melodrama. That and the fact it isn't a comic book or big into social issues. Thus some escapism from politics and comic book fatigue by just being about a bunch of asshole lawyers doing asshole things. Which of course is always a good source for fun and drama.

Paramount wants to remake Deep Impact and have lined up Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider-Man) to direct.

Cue more weary Ben Affleck memes when he learns that an obscure clause in his original contract means that he has to star in a new trilogy of Armageddon movies

I liked Deep Impact (more than Armageddon) but there is no need for a remake. If anything, I'd be more interested in a sequel/spinoff series showing more of the part where humanity rebuilds after the events of the film.

Something from outer space threatening life on earth is nothing new. I suspect they just want the title for name recognition and the movie won't even resemble the original.

I wouldn't call Gargoyles reboot.. Unnecessary.. It being live action.. bit Meh, I'd take another cartoon series.

Disney animation you say? What a novel idea!

Also, why the hell are people with a horror pedigree being put in charge? If they're happy to throw around money, why not give the keys to the guy who created the original and has been hustling for a new show since '97?

Apparently Peacock TVs Battlestar Galactica reboot is still a thing according to its producer. Now that the Writers strike is over, scripts are being developed/written and they expect to start casting once the actors strike is over.

That's good. I am looking forward to that and was afraid it would have been one of the things cancelled because of the strikes.
