The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

The daughter of the film will be grown up and running the farm, now married and with some kids, who might be teens or at least one is a teen. She and her family still love watching the ball games but she misses her dad who died and secretly hopes to see him come through the cornfield. Her mom is living in a nursing home but comes by from time to time along with uncle Busfield whose character name I don't recall. Maybe she even has to go on a adventure to help the son of James Earl Jones who also might show up. Basically Costner does show but maybe not until the final episode or maybe even earlier as the character is then able to move past that onto another arc.

Terry had a son?

What I hope this doesn't become is a weekly "Quantum Leap/Highway to Heaven" or that show where the lead got tomorrow's newspaper a day early and then had to go around finding people to help because the voice in the cornfield tells them to.

It might have been a daughter. I remember in the hotel room scene he had to go call his kids or kid because they were worried he went missing.

Early Edition was a solid show. Put Kyle Chandler on the map or almost. Their was another show he was in I think we're he was a World War 2 hero or something. I think the show was called Homefront.

I'm pretty sure it was his father who had declared him missing, but I could be wrong. I'll have to revisit...
Yes, you're correct. I don't think the film ever implied that Terrence Mann had any kids. (And the Shoeless Joe novel used J.D. Salinger as a character, so that's not necessarily any help.)

Normally I would be aghast at the prospect of trying to turn Field of Dreams into a weekly series.

And they've apparently built a new permanent field there, and recently had an exhibition game. MLB Players dressed down to period correct uniforms as in the movie, and had them appear out of the corn field. So, I think there's actually a lot going on than just the TV series.

They were never you going to capture the spirit of the original because grown up Punky just isn't as interesting as kid punky.

So.. A new 20,000 leagues under the Sea series coming to Disney Pluff ..

I just hope the nautalus looks like the 1954 version.

I hope they use the classic design too. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it from a design standpoint, and all those rivets gives it all the "High-Definition" detail it could ever need.

Online, it doesn't say whether Disney's new 20K Leagues is a period piece or a sci-fi production, like a modern-day version of seaQuest 2032.

There have been some truly "interesting" versions over the years as revealed upon this page...

But, like you, the 1954 riveted "ironclad" as designed by Harper Goff is, for me, the definitive version, even if it differs greatly from what Verne describes in his novel.

CBS is turning True Lies into a TV series and has cast Steve Howey (Reba, Shameless, Sarah Shahi's ex-husband) as Harry.

I just stumbled across a Doogie Howser soft reboot called Doogie Kameãloha, MD on the Disney + home screen..........were people asking for this.......like ANYONE?

I guess no one wanted the Punky Brewster reboot. It got canceled.

I didn't even know it existed. Reminds of the "rebooted" ReBoot which I also didn't know existed until it was cancelled, and was pretty awful, trying to be a wannabe Power Rangers with live action kids protecting Mainframe. It also had a literal "fuck you" moment to the fans of the original show where they're presented as the stereotypical socially awkward types living in their parents' basement.

Edit: Actually it seems it hasn't been officially cancelled, but there haven't been any new episodes since 2018.
