The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Why would a a soldier be called "RoboCop?" This is all sounds like a bad idea. Unless they made the Solider cyborg a cop thus you could have something to say about how modern police often operate more like soldiers, even with military style hardware, than actual cops. The Nancy Allen replacement could be a old school cop who doesn't like what police are being turned into.
No one wants a movie call "RoboGrunt"

I want to emphasize that the only things we know about the project are what we've learned from leaks. There's nothing officially announced, unlike Stargate, and the Robocop cast hasn't been revealed either. Is it a reboot? Or not? We don't know. A formal announcement will probably come at Comic-Con or later. I hope it doesn't get canceled like Stargate or other Robocop projects.

Warners, who actually had the feature rights for about a decade but was never able to get to a Sesame Street movie, bowed out early amid acquisition drama, first by Netflix, then by Paramount.

Universal proved a strong contender as it had The Daniels, the Everything Everywhere All at Once filmmaking team of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, attached to produce as well as Phil Lord and Chris Miller. (Neither entity was attached to direct, sources stress.)

In the end, Netflix prevailed. It helped that Sesame Workshop also approved of Rideback’s approach to the material. No filmmaker is currently attached.
