The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

Amazon is trying to turn the board game The Game of Life into a movie.

Maybe I can pitch a Hungry Hungry Hippos movie to Blumhouse.
Robot of Chicken has already done it.

I looked at the casting choices for Netflix’s Scooby-Doo series and Disney’s Tangled live-action film, and it seems like Hollywood has started to give in to Trump’s demands.

Cody revealed the news during a live panel this past weekend in Los Angeles, moderated by screenwriter Joe Russo. The Storytelling 360 screenwriting panel featured Diablo, Nia Vardalos, Cord Jefferson, Graham Moore, and the writers of KPop Demon Hunters.

Huh... I'm of a mixed interest on this. I loved Arcane - great story and the animation was very well done, so that's a plus.

I initially enjoyed the first season of WoT but subsequent seasons seemed to slowly buckle under the weight of their own serious ponderousness. That, and I found Rosamund Pike's portrayal of Moiraine and Kate Fleetwood's Liandrin to be particularly cumbersome to watch.

I apparently wasn't the only one who felt this, as it was cancelled after the 3rd season (it was also too expensive to produce and Amazon Prime wanted to go all-in with LOTR-TRoP), with many more that could have been made from the source material. Maybe that's what these new animated things are going to be, trying to wrap things up in a less-expensive way?

Apparently James Whale is making a sequel to Frankenstein. This seems like a terrible idea, I can't imagine it'll be any good...

Frankenstein in space! Frank is abducted by a UFO and goes crazy when he wakes up. It's up to him and a young girl who was also abducted to work together to find a way back to Earth.

Frankensteins monster teams up with Machete ("He's a goddamn Feddie!" will be his catchphrase) and they travel the Galaxy righting wrongs on their Space Harley-Davidsons, rescuing/romancing/abandoning alien girls and killing bad guys.

Imagine Danny Trejo in TOS red

You basically just described this movie.
