The unnecessary reboot/remake of the week thread

  • Thread starter Rowdy Roddy McDowall
  • Start date
According to wiki, the new jack ryan movie will be released in the united states by amazon mgm studios and internationally by paramount pictures in theaters. but the movie was not mentioned in the 2 panels at cinema con. they are probably making this movie a prime video special in partnership with paramount pictures.

Wendell Pierce took to X to promote his 2026 projects, and he mentioned that Jack Ryan will be released in May. The actor also shared that Power Book III: Raising Kanan returns June 12 on Starz, and he's currently starring in the CBS dramedy Elsbeth.
Despite Pierce seemingly confirming that Jack Ryan will be released in May 2026, Prime Video has yet to officially announce a release date. If the actor's social media post proves accurate, audiences will get to see Krasinski back as the CIA operative in just a couple of months from now.

Sounds like they're having difficulty casting the next Doctor Who because the actors have no idea if it's going to be a short-time or long-time gig.

Paramount+ has announced a new animated Garfield series for its streaming service.
Lamorne Morris takes over Chris Pratt as the voice of Garfield.

Apparently Disney had been working on a remake to their popular animated Robin Hood movie, but last I heard they are no longer moving forward with it. Personally, I think I'm breathing a sigh of relief. Not everything needs to be a remake.

I checked to see if a thread had been opened about this project, and I saw that one was opened when the first rumors surfaced in 2022. The project was approved in 2024, and Amazon's approach to releasing a project of this magnitude takes 5 years. That's why I decided to share this news in this thread, because it's probably still 2-3 years away. Hopefully, we'll see this project come to fruition. And I hope we get to see it without Henry Cavill's name being involved in any scandals. What I'm curious about is whether it will just be a show, or whether they'll create a full-scale MCU-style universe? From what I know, it will be the latter. And yes, I know this isn't a reboot or remake.

Meanwhile Sly has joined the Rambo prequel - but as an executive producer
