"The Underwater Menace" gets animated.

Troughton is my favorite Doctor. A shocking statistic is that after this gets released, there are only 3 Troughton stories left to animate: The Highlanders, The Wheel in Space, and The Space Pirates. Pretty crazy considering how many episodes were missing.

I'm more amazed by how many are found. It's miraculous.

I'm even more amazed that this story didn't get animated for its standalone release, but if all of season 4 comes out on blu-ray, the more that are fully animated is by far the better. Heck, I'd wager some could live with The Highlanders not being tartaned up for all characters, just plain kilts, as a compromise to make animation viable.

Wasn't part of "The Wheel in Space" pt 1 already done? Was that a fan effort or a proof of concept? I recall it being phenomenal...

"The Space Pirates", much like "Underwater Menace" and "Enemy of the World" had a low opinion because what survived at the time looked like boring fluff. With other episodes returning, the visuals made a surprising difference in reception. "The Macra Terror" may be completely animated, but the creative liberties used help it immensely, based on the few visuals we do have that don't sell the monsters well at all. I do recall later eps of "Pirates", especially in the novelization, being a bit better... hopefully it will get an animation and there's a lot more creative liberty they can do... I do feel that a proper animation might give this a big boost.

I'm even more even more amazed at why people think that if the films are digitized that they will lose value. Plenty of items genuinely don't because few exist and are one-of-a-kind. Even computer hardware is emulated and that hasn't had an effect on the genuine physical equipment's value, especially if they are in perfect working order. It's tangible, real history.

I'd certainly would be happy with that tradeoff to get the animation!! :techman:

Besides, some superfan or a dozen will undoubtably come to the rescue make those plain kilts into tartans. Doctor Who fans are not to be underestimated!
