The Two Doctors!!

Fleet Captain
After years of trying to watch this movie thru other means and never finding it. I finally signed up for NetFlix for a free month so i could finally watch this.

Now ive never watched the Second Doctor and few parts of the 6th Doctor. So im pretty cold going into this.

Just hope its worth the wait and dont bore me.

Regarding the 2nd Doctor, when does this fit his time line?
Ive always heard about season 6B but not sure what anyone was ever talking about.

So what did everyone think of this movie as i never see much talk about it.

I love this one. The plot is pretty screw-ball but it is a lot of fun.

Given the Doctor and Jamie's increase in age, and the fact that they're on a mission from the Timelords, it has to take place after Wargames. As I understand the 6b explanation, the Second Doctor was kept out of time after The Three Doctors and made to work for the Celestial Intervention Agency, and at some point started travelling with Jamie and Victoria again.

On the one hand there's some great ideas in it, but on the other it's unsettlingly nasty. Still, it establishes the Doctor as a vegetarian at the end, until some halfwitted moron made the Tenth Doctor go on about how he loves hot dogs like a stupid tit in The Age of Steel.

Actually, it was until Nine ordered a steak and chips in "Boom Town." Unless you think he was strict about it, then it was when Seven snacked on a Jelly Baby in the TV movie.

It was a vegetarian jelly baby :borg:. You can get them.

It's no surprise it was Fecklesston's that broke it. He was about as far away from the character of the Doctor you can get.

Not a huge fan of The Two Doctors, though it is nice to see Two and Jamie again, and Peri and the sixth Doctor are good in it. I like Colin's delivery of "I was always rather fond of Jamie."

The Sontarans are very badly realises though, and the least said about the Scottish cannibals the better!

Regarding the 2nd Doctor, when does this fit his time line?
Ive always heard about season 6B but not sure what anyone was ever talking about.

The theory is that somewhere in between his trial in The War Games (at the end of season 6) and Jon Pertwee falling out of the TARDIS at the beginning of season 7, the Celestial Intervention Agency grab the 2nd Doctor and send him on a bunch of missions for them.

So what did everyone think of this movie as i never see much talk about it.

It's OK - has some good moments (mainly when Pat is onscreen) and some awful ones (mainly when the Sontarans or John Stratton are onscreen). The direction is appallingly flat though (introducing the Sontarans in long-shot, for example, though this is maybe understandable considering how crap the new costumes and masks are...)

The location filming is a bit of a waste as well, but then it often was/is. Arc of Infinity and Planet of the Dead for example.

On the flipside I think Vampires of Venice and Vincent and the Doctor made much better use of Croatia!

Actually I rather enjoyed the 2 doctors.. Colin Baker actually shines in that one, and takes his crap jacket off..the fact that the 2nd doctor is in it doing work for the time lords makes so much sense, and that he is taken out of time is sooooo cool, just the inference of that idea makes the imagination run wild with what other stories could have been..or could be made yet to come in a doctor who novel or comic series based on that premise...

On the flip side:

Don't you just hate it when militant vegans just have to get all bent out of shape over a little meat eating..

Humans are by evolution part herbivore, part carnivore.. hence the term.. Omnivore!

sheesh!

I'm sorry, I am just not big on others who want to make you do as they do..

If you want to eat nothing but veg, go ahead.. but to complain that the doc shouldn't enjoy a great piece of steak, or a hotdog.. that's just wrong..I mean how cruel would it be to deprive the good ole doc from eating a nice Philly sub.. or a succulent top sirloin kabob with shrimp and red potatoes on a grill..Or for that matter a peperoni pizza..Turkey at the Tyler house Xmas event! etc..etc..

For God sakes let the man eat! he hasn't had a decent meal or weight since 6! LMAO

Hell I can't stay on a diet for more than a month or two. So I'm not going to blame the Doctor if he falls off the vegetarian wagon after a few decades.

"New body, new mouth, new rules!" - The 11th Doctor

That whole veggie thing from The Two Doctors is a perfect example of a lame politically correct fad having its moment. No worse or better than Hartnell's TARDIS crew tuning into the Beatles for a dance. It's part of the era.

Fortunately, The Ninth Doctor is the toughest, most awesome incarnation. So, obviously he orders a steak. No badass like him is going to order a Side Salad in front of his enemies... :p

Very Doctorish. Following that, I suppose he nipped down the dog track for a bet and a punch up, then burst into drunken tears about how he loves Rose and threatening to cut anyone who mentioned it again.

That coat is a masterpiece. Philistine.

Also, militant vegans? Get your terms right.

Bones, you know I love ya in a strictly platonic, online forum buddy kinda way but we will never agree about the Ninth Doctor.

I'm having steak and chips tonight in honour of Eccleston's badass awesomeness! ;)

I meant that in the sincerist way possible.. it's a statement akin to militant eco freak, and militant activist, or militant blogger, or militant feminist.. basically someone who overly complains about a subject to try to force others to par take..

Finally watched it and got to say it wasnt too bad. Really liked the 2nd Doctor and liked his story an sad we didnt get to see more of his storyline of working for the timelords.

Loved Peri and loved the top she was wearing. She looked awesome and is really sweet.
The other girl was really cute too and shocked that when she was siting on the ground the camara panned around and you could see down here shirt. Talk about naughty lol

Storywise with the Androgum didnt make much sense at all. And seems more like Filler and just an excuse to get the 2 doctors together.
And the location shots really sucked and really stood out like a sore thumb. U go from the Spaceship to bam outside shots. Looked chessy.

Wish brings me to another thing, im currently watching episodes from the 3rd Doctor and it looks better tech wish than this movie.

6th Doctor wasnt too bad, kind of liked the guy and shocked the guy at the end actually died. That would never happen today on Doctor Who.
