The truth about the missing Captains chair

I almost forgot, but was just reminded, that back in between the 4th and 5th seasons, someone, somehow, grabbed the original STTNG captains chair from the set and took it off of the lot. Does anyone know the back story about this? I also heard that because of this, the security chief fired the whole security staff and replaced them with new security.

Anyone know the truth?
