KIRK: Kirk to Enterprise. Mister Scott.

 

[Admiral Shran]

SCOTT: Scott here.

KIRK: Mister Scott, stand by to beam us back.

 

[LeadHead]

Scotty: I can't Sir, at least not all at once.

 

[Brian]

KIRK: Why not? What's happened?

 

[LeadHead]

Scotty: Everything! That ship you're on is fading out and it's ripping the innards out of this one.

On the Defiant Bridge

Scotty: (over comm) It's jamming our transporter frequencies. I've only got 3 of them working and I'm not sure of those. One of you has got to wait.

 

[Brian]

SCOTTY continues: It's jamming our transporter frequencies. I've only got three of them working, and I'm not sure of those. One of you has got to wait.

KIRK: Chekov, McCoy, prepare for transportation. You, too, Spock.

 

[LeadHead]

Spock: Request permission to remain Captain. I could be completing the data.

 

[Enterprise1981]

SPOCK: Request permission to remain, Captain. I could be completing the data.

KIRK: Request denied.

 

[Alienesse]

SPOCK: Captain, there is a chance

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: I know what the chances are Mister Spock. Don't argue. Get back with the information. I'll be right there. Scotty, Energize Transporter.

 

[Alienesse]

[Transporter room]

SCOTTY: Aye.

 

[LeadHead]

After a couple of attempts, Spock, McCoy and Chekov beam back to the Enterprise. They remove their helmets as they walk to the Transporter control area.

Spock: Energize.

The transporter attempts to beam Kirk back, unsuccessfully. Kirk waits patiently on the Defiant bridge,looking at the horrors of the deaths of the Captain and an officer at the command area.

While Spock, Scotty and O'Neil work the transporter controls, Chekov switches on the aft viewscreen, watching as the Defiant fades in and out until she disappears completely.

 

[Alienesse]

CHEKOV: It's gone. The Defiant just vanished.

Scotty and O'Neil start fiddling with the innards of the transporter console.

 

[LeadHead]

Scotty: Anything?

 

[Alienesse]

SPOCK: Negative.

 

[Leandar]

Scotty: That's it. I've done all I can. There's nothing out there to grab hold of and bring in. When that ship went, it must have taken the captain with it!

 

[Alienesse]

[Bridge]

COMPUTER: Computer working.
