"The Tholian Web" Line-by-Line!

Greetings!

We've recently concluded our http://www.trekbbs.com/showthread.php?t=136085"Mirror, Mirror Line-by-Line" thread!

After each completed thread, I'm randomly picking someone who participated to choose the next episode we do. The lucky winner this time around was leandar! And KirkPicard has chosen "The Tholian Web" as our next line-by-line adventure!

For any unfamiliar with our "game," you are asked to post only a single line (defined as one character speaking without interruption by another character) per message. You can post as often as you like, but someone else must post a line in between your posts.

As always, at the conclusion of this thread, I will pick someone at random from among all the participants to choose the next episode we do.

[In Space - Enterprise Exterior]

KIRK (voice only): Captain's Log, stardate 5693.2. The Enterprise is approaching the last reported position of the Starship Defiant, which vanished without trace three weeks ago. We are in unsurveyed territory.

 

[LeadHead]

There is tension on the bridge as officers work their stations.

Spock: Captain, we are registering very curious readings from all sensors.

 

[JanewayRulz!]

KIRK: Specify.

 

[Leandar]

Spock: I cannot. According to our instruments, space itself is literally breaking up. There is no known phenomenon which would account for these readings.

 

[JanewayRulz!]

KIRK: What about sensor failure?

 

[Leandar]

Spock: Negative, I have run a complete check on all systems.

 

[LeadHead]

Scotty: Captain, we're losing power in the warp engines.

 

[Leandar]

Kirk: How bad is it?

 

[Admiral Shran]

SCOTT: We can barely read it, but I don't like the looks of it. And I cannot find out the cause.

 

[Leandar]

Chekov: Captain. Visual detection of an object dead ahead.

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: How about it Spock?

 

[Leandar]

Spock: Fascinating.

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: Explain.

 

[Enterprise1981]

SPOCK: There is virtually no sensor contact. No mass analysis. No trace of radiation. We see it, but our sensors indicate it is not there.

(As they close in, the bright fuzzy thing on the screen becomes recognizable.)

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: The Defiant! Mister Sulu, Impulse Engines only. Close to Transporter Range.

 

[JanewayRulz!]

SULU: Aye, aye, sir.

 

[LeadHead]

Kirk: Lieutenant, open up a hailing frequency.

 

[Ziz]

Uhura: I've been trying to raise them, sir. There is no response.

 

[Enterprise1981]

SULU: Just within transporter range, sir.
