I am waiting to see how Viodance manages to cover it. I don't envy her. There hasn't been a single Jeff Russo main title theme I've liked during his time with the franchise. His work all sounds like even worse sonic wallpaper

I‘ve been meaning to check out The Gilded Age since you mentioned it a while ago. Loved Downton Abbey and wonder if it‘s about as good. Unfortunately I don‘t have HBO Max.Seriously - after the Illia's Theme extract, play the theme alongside the Gilded Age titles and it synchs uo crazy well
I‘m inclined to agree. I genuinely love Russo‘s work on those individual scores, but he doesn‘t seem to be able or willing to compose a catchy theme tune. Or alternatively he‘s just not instructed to do so, who knows?Common denominator is Jeff Russo, who appears to be spectacularly unable to bring a tune to a harmonious conclusion....
Yeah, it‘s blocked for me as well. @Akiraprise, which track is that? The video says Unavailable?
I‘ll disagree with that, as I think all the scores that have been released for the Kurtzman era Trek shows have been really good and powerful listens. It‘s usually just the main themes that are a little lame.I think the only album they've released of his work I've slightly liked was his score for Discovery's fifth season, which felt like someone told him to wake the hell up.
I really like that one, yeah. Would definitely have made for a more upbeat title theme at least. The one I initially thought would be the main theme is track 12, “We Are Back”: It starts with a quick Sandy Courage Star Trek fanfare, and then it builds on a short and decently memorable melody that’s only briefly intercut by a quieter part in the middle.^ Yes, it is. Didn't realize YT was region locking these. They're on Jeff Russo's channel.
I've been skipping it for the last 3 weeks. It's probably my least favorite theme of the franchise, and that includes Faith of the Heart (Which I kinda like).I dare admit that I've actually been skipping the main theme for the past 2 weeks now. It just isn't sticking in my head at all, sadly the least memorable or catchy theme we've had.
For those that are interested (not sure if it is region locked):Seriously - after the Illia's Theme extract, play the theme alongside the Gilded Age titles and it synchs uo crazy well
i wonder if season 2 of starfleet academy is gonna have the traditional star trek captain intro speech
I'm not a hater of this show - but the title sequence really is the worst.
I'm an avid title watcher - even if I don't really like them. For me this is part of the experience.
This is really the only show where I skip the titles every time. Not the only Star Trek show. The only show.
Like I can accept bad music if the imagery is great (ENT). Or the other way around (TNG).
I don't like the DIS/PIC "ambient shopping mall music" & "generic prestige drama show" visuals. But they're at least watchable, and there's some design in there.
But whenever the first plant on SFA sprouts, and then turns into the first construction site - I want to scream "I GET IT" at the screen.
"HURRY THE FUCK UP". "How many times can you show me the same picture from a different angle, with the same sound?
Then I get frustrated, and annoyed, and skip it.
And that all in the first 5 seconds!
Seriously - after the Illia's Theme extract, play the theme alongside the Gilded Age titles and it synchs uo crazy well
For those that are interested (not sure if it is region locked):
Oh my word that works so well. I mean literally they are the same visual's if you'd asked Siri to find something similar to the SFA ones and Siri was having a bad day but still delivered.
