Opening narrations are the exception not the rule.
Yeah, only three Star Trek shows have had opening narrations.
i like the show itself so far, but yeah, unfortunately i don't find the theme that memorable. I haven't been the biggest fan of Jeff Russo's work on Trek.
Maybe they should have got Michael Giacchino to write the main theme, like they did with PRO . That's a cracking great theme tune, imo

I like Melumad, though she is still doing SNW.
I wonder what someone like Bear McCreary would do with a Star Trek score.
I've actually been listening to the soundtrack lately, and it is definitely growing on me..! I actually quite like the main theme now, even though I was critical before. It may not be as melodic as I would have hoped, but it is atmospheric, and the four note main theme (which is played most prominently at the end) is actually very beautiful, and can be heard in several pieces of the score. I also think Jeff has made leaps in his arrangements and orchestrations, and a track like 'The Kid Is Trouble' is very symphonic. All in all, I urge everyone to have a listen!

Like Sean Ferrick, I like the last part. And I like the tinkle tinkle melody which is a straight lift from Ilia's theme.
But listen Jeff, I want a theme I can understand and get.
I don't want cryptic, segmented or to have to listen 50 times before the penny drops (I can got to my TMBG albums for that)

Well, it's a month on and I can't hum it still, other than the last few bars. I CAN hum the mockup of the Star Trek: United concept music that Scifinatics did.

I dare admit that I've actually been skipping the main theme for the past 2 weeks now. It just isn't sticking in my head at all, sadly the least memorable or catchy theme we've had.
I for one find them about equally as boring as Discovery’s and Picard’s. They all have gorgeous visuals, but damn are they boooring. It’s a beautiful piece of music for SFA, too, but absolutely not as the show’s main theme. Chris Westlake’s Lower Decks theme is the only one where I feel it sounds like a proper series title theme. The Strange New World theme and title sequence I find okay-ish, but even that one goes on for way too long.
Common denominator is Jeff Russo, who appears to be spectacularly unable to bring a tune to a harmonious conclusion....
Charles-Henri Avelange also auditioned for the Discovery gig - I don't especially love this but it's better than what we got, although would not work with their title graphics.

When I think of the theme for the series this is kind of what I thought it might be starting at :45 based on the promotional material with hints of TWOK at 1:32. That melody is catchy to me.

I'm not totes sure we're about the same track - I'm geolocked out. But I did wonder if the new arrangement of IYG2SF but without Wainwright's vocals, could have served as a theme tune.
There hasn't been a single Jeff Russo main title theme I've liked during his time with the franchise. His work all sounds like even worse sonic wallpaper than the work Rick Berman required during his time.
I think the only album they've released of his work I've slightly liked was his score for Discovery's fifth season, which felt like someone told him to wake the hell up.
