Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

I recently discovered Foomandonian's fan design U.S.S. Pioneer and wish the staff would hire him to create the/an official stepping stone between the niche of four trailing nacelles as represented by Cardenas-class and Constellation-class.

I still don't understand why Polar Lights hasn't done a 1/1000 or even 1/350 Stargazer.
Which one we talking about? Constellation or Sagan class? Because a 1/350 scale Sagan would be five monstrous feet long!

As for why they haven't made either? Polar Lights definitely really only has a focus on either "Hero Ships" with multiple appearances, anything named Enterprise, ships from the films, or common "bad guy ships."

Bout the only exception to this in recent years was the Shenzhou, and it sold poorly enough in the 1/2500 scale, that we never got the "promised" 1/1000 scale. Same with the Discovery.

If you want anything more obscure, 3D printing is pretty much your only option.

I do fully expect we'll get both a Titan/Enterprise-G kit in the near future, plus another re-release of the Ent-D with Picard S3 decals.

Sorry, Constellation class.

I know Polar Lights is "strongly considering" a 1/500 SNW Enterprise, which will be about the same size as the refit Enterprise in 1/350.

They're still "strongly considering" a 1/1000 E-D also

If one had the money and the time, one could build a 1:350 SG out of 2 PL Refit kits. I did one many decades ago from a pair of ERTL refits (which was what Picard's desk model was made with) and it came out pretty well.

Apologies for the smallness of the photos - it was 1996. :ouch:

Sadly, I now no longer have the money or the time to build a 350. :(

I'm not ashamed at all to admit I check for news of this kit pretty much everyday..... I need this kit to happen!

That looks great!

Thanks kindly! :)

Really wish I had better photos of it, but I sold it off to someone I'm no longer in contact with. It's probably been destroyed for all I know, now. It was not a terribly sturdy construction.

If it was made from that cursed* 1/537 scale kit, I'm surprised it didn't just collapse in on itself and start on fire....

*if you know, you know....

I personally think 1/500 is a good scale for smaller starships. A 1/500 TOS Constitution, Refit, Reliant, 2893 Stargazer and perhaps up to an Excelsior would be great.

A 1/500 Excelsior would be huge.

As an ancestor to the Excelsior class - maybe even the source of the Excelsior herself - I like the Atlas class design from STO!
