Spoilers The Strange New Worlds Starship Thread™

Oh, sure, they're really not a big deal in the grand scheme of things. I'm just amused that they first appeared on the Excelsior in TSFS (c.2285), and Eaves anachronistically put them on nearly every ship of the DSC era (c.2256). I just find it kind of funny. :)
The Excelsior is retro!?

Ironically, I kinda feel like the interior of the Enterprise in Disco was closer to TOS aesthetic than what we're seeing in SNW, despite being a redress.

Examples?
Only that it's not as wide and stark white as the SNW interior, the darker colour scheme and moar red feels more like it's referencing TOS fitting into the design of the show its in rather than a modernized look like SNW is going for.

I suppose I should dig into the specifics of my own, but I think the color scheme of SNW is warmer and more reminiscent of TOS. That's why SNW can feel like TOS while not necessarily mimicking the shapes. Then of course there are things like the Jefferies Tube which is my favorite set in SNW.

The SNW bridge is lit with pale golds while the Disco bridge was done up in blues (because the Disco bridge fights for the users). I honestly don't recall any of the non-bridge Enterprise sets from Disco.

I think Spock's cabin was shown (along with the corridor outside of it). IIRC, it had pretty much the same color palette that would be used in SNW.

It was a good effort, but I still prefer the newer sets from SNW.

that shot of Burnham was one of the first publicity images we got, and a clear hint to Spock as 3F was his quarters in TOS (sometimes)

I dunno what it is, but I genuinely dislike the straight pylons, when applied to the "Discoprise".

They look fine on the TOS Enterprise, but there's something about the look they give the modernized version that I just don't like.

I much prefer the swept back pylons. Makes it look sleek and fast and somehow more modern while still being gloriously retro. Plus, it goes well with the NX-01, which is always a plus in my book.

Opinions will vary.

I think the straight supports work better if you arrange the components like the TOS Enterprise... that is, the distance between the center lines of the nacelles should be two-thirds the diameter of the primary hull.

It isn't a big change, but it seems better to me.

Oh that'll do it! The base configuration does make her look quite squat at times (short neck, wide spaced nacelles) but the swept back pylons help to alleviate this.

@Shaw I was going to comment on the proportions. Also, what does it look like in 3D rather than an ortho? (That's a question in general, if it had straight pylons, not a question to Shaw.)
