The Stargate Franchise - A First Timer's Watchthrough

I'm watching old reruns of SG-1 on Comet TV. I haven't seen some episodes in awhile(I sold my season sets)

Just rewatched "Point of View" It's still fun and captivating to rewatch

Really? I haven't kept up with when series become entirely free and when you have to pay for each season or episode.

I found out about "Doctor Who" seasons not being free anymore when I read a youtube comment. Now you have to pay for each episode or the entire season.

They flip flop so much you can't keep up

Thanks.

It's funny to watch older seasons of SG-1 and notice the filming style in the vein of the 90's Outer Limits series. They did share alot of the same producers and locations in Canada.

The 2005 edition of Doctor Who was removed from Amazon Prime because all of its episodes will be exclusive to HBO Max when it launches at the end of May.

Why would you sell the dvds?
I would first sell my children before my SG1 dvd set

Amazon Prime has all SG-1 episodes. Haven't checked to see if THE ARK OF TRUTH and CONTINUUM are there.

Pretty sure I saw SGU and SGA there, too.

The DVD movies are no longer on streaming. But all the Stargate seasons, all 17 of them, are on Amazon Prime and Hulu.

.

HBO bought the rights. However the price of DVD/BLU are really cheap, $15-20 for full collections of each Doctor.

The DVDs have a cash value because they are wanted, unlike your children.

Favourite lines from that episode
Daniel "He broke into your house?"
Jack: "Yeah."
Daniel: "That's two weeks in a row."
Jack: "I know."
Daniel: "Alarm."
Jack: "I was thinking maybe a dog."
Joe: "Try locking your front door."

I loved that exchange. It was a very "jack and daniel" exchange.

I have a question regarding the next three Atlantis episodes and try to be as spoiler free as possible. Do I need to see SG-1 before I see Brotherhood, Letters from Pegasus or The Gift? The reason I ask is because SG-1 is basically the two part episodes coming up (And the unofficial third part but we will see). Atlantis are just regular episodes. I'm giving some thought of getting those three episodes out of the way first, then going to SG-1 and finishing the season. This way I can get The Siege pretty close to after I see the SG-1 finale, and if they are tied together, that might be more gratifying than having three extra episodes to see. If that's not a good idea I defer to your guys' knowledge.

AFAIK, you do not need to see any SG1 episodes before "Brotherhood", "Letters from Pegasus" and "The Gift". However, you should finish SG1 first before seeing "The Siege". There is a plot point in "Moebius" that comes into play in "The Siege".

So finish SG1 Season 8 first and then finish SGA Season 1.

I was going to, but I'm just talking about getting those three episodes out of the way first.

Oh sure. You can watch those 3 SGA eps first if you want. "Letters from Pegasus" is a clip show but both "Letters from Pegasus" and "The Gift" do set things up for the SGA finale. But to avoid jumping back and forth, I figured you might want to finish SG1 Season 8 first and then finish SGA Season 1 together.

Ok, I'll stick with my original viewing order if things set up the finale. I'll probably be getting to them tomorrow based on the pace I'm going so it's not really a big deal.

You have the five SG-1 episodes left, but you can watch whatever you want as long as you don't watch The Siege before finishing SG1.

After all the talk about Stargate I am looking for a substitute because I have already seen SG1 and Atlantis.

Are there any good SG1 novels set after the tv shows?

Which they make a meta reference to with Joe commenting he agrees with Jack's comparison to Mr. Burns as a Goa'uld from Lost City.
German TV used this episode to correct a huge mistake. In the Lost City episode they dubbed the "Burns as a Goa'uld" as "burns as a Goa'uld" in German which did absolutely not make any sense. After 7 seasons they should have known that Jack is a Simpsons fan, d'oh!

Glad people brought up MacGyver because it gives me a excuse to show this YouTube clip.

I was surprised if this was all about clips of Jack, they didn't use the Golf scene in Window of Opportunity. In a fun episode like this, using that scene would have been amazing.

I know it's a fun episode and it's being mostly done for laughs, I'm going to be that guy for a sec and congratulate the show on NOT using that clip.
Why? Well from a strictly causal POV, Joe couldn't have personally witnessed that incident. He was personally oblivious to the time-loop just like everyone else on the planet, so all he'd have seen would have been the final day when they broke the cycle...still it's an open question as to whether or not Jack bothered to include that detail when typing up his report... ;)

I get what you are saying, but considering Jack's "casual" personality, I can't really see him not mentioning that in his report. I mean his gleeful pride when realizing he could do anything he wanted just seems like something Jack might want to include, just for laughs.

As far as I know all of the SG-1 novels are set during the show. There is a series of Atlantis novels and novellas set after the show, but I believe those are the only novels that continue any of the shows' stories beyond the last episodes or movies.
