The Star Wars saga: Why 4-1-2-5-3-6 is my preferred viewing order...

Re: The Star Wars saga: Why 4-1-2-5-3-6 is my preferred viewing order.

4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6 and I always try to squeeze in (the first) Clone Wars series in between 2 and 3, esp considering that was the type of story that Ep 2 should have been in the first place.

TPM was intentionally similar to ANH. That doesn't make it a ripoff.
By that logic, the Psycho remake wasn't a rip-off - and yet it was, due mainly to one key difference, the same as TPM's to ANH: it was terrible. :vulcan:
Yeah, well, the Psycho remake was done shot-for-shot by a completely different director. The Phantom Menace wasn't shot-for-shot, but it was done by the same director. It wasn't a ripoff, it was done intentionally to mirror the journeys of Anakin and Luke (not that I think it was particularly successful at that).
4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6.

Learn it, live it, love it. :techman:

I kinda like that idea.

Me too. It preserves the surprise in ESB, and then, while giving you three films for the anxiety over Han's fate to build up, the prequels also set up ROTJ's redemption story. It would be as if they included the prequels as a flashback story while Luke's recuperating from the events of Empire. In the far off future when I have kids, that's how they're going to be forced to watch it.
Exactly. :D I wish I could claim credit for thinking of it myself, but I actually got the suggestion from a poster on another board I used to frequent years ago. It's absolutely perfect, IMO.
