The Shield

FWIW, I don't think Vic is going to die at the end of the show. I have a feeling he'll end up crippled, unable to do his job or protect his family. I can picture his wife leaving him and him having to move into some crappy crack neighborhood with the show's final moment being some bangers knocking his door down while he sits in a wheelchair with a 12 gauge.

It's not enough for him to die. He needs to suffer to atone for all the suffering he has brought to those around him. I think putting Vic in a wheelchair would bring him a level of suffering he has never dealt with before. In fact, has he ever been hurt really badly on the show physically? I know he got shot once but I can't remember him being out of comission due to injury.

Acevada told Kavanaugh that Vic makes his own fate. I think if Vic was disabled, he'd lose his ability to do that and that would be a much worse punishment for him than death.

What do you see happening to Shane?

What do you see happening to Shane?

Inasmuch as I've thought about it, I think Vic is going to shoot him.

I'm not nearly as invested in Shane's character though and I've never liked him that much. He had one redeeming moment in the show, at Terry Crowley's funeral, where he almost breaks down. Other than that, he hasn't proven himself worthy of any kind of redemption and I imagine he's going to die in a fairly undignified manor.

Now that I think about it, wouldn't it be funny if Vic ended up in jail for shooting Shane?

Although no grounds for redemption on Shane's part, his finest hour IMO was when he managed to stitch up Armadillo and save Vic's skin. A rare flash of genius on Shane's part.

What will happen with Vic ultimately? I can see Shane, Vic and Aceveda all dying.

My only investment in the Shane character is that I can't stand him and think he is a first class jerk. If anyone should go down dishonorably, it would be him and Aceveda.

I actually really like Aceveda. I think he's a fascinating character to watch especially during the rape story arc.

I like Aceveda, too, in spite of some of his head-butting with Vic. I found a great interview with him about the next season, and his remarks about the rape scene are really interesting:

I had a journey where I suffered an attack and a rape sequence and then you go through the psychological drama. What is fascinating to me is that there is a sense of guilt that that happened that I carried as an actor, and a sense of protection because you always knew that somebody might find out kind of quality that spilled over into every day life. People would see me, “Oh, wow I love that show. You’re that captain.” You kind of go, “Oh good, they didn’t remember it.” And then they go, “Oh, and you got raped!” Okay, so now you know too.

He also has some very high remarks for the next season, I can't wait to see it. :bolian:

Oh, yeah, I finished awhile ago and forgot about this thread. Let's see here...

Favorite character is a toss up between Vic and Claudette and you can't make pick which one I like more. :p

However, my least favorite character is by far Acevada. He's a self-important, pompous, egotistical, hypocritical...politician (as Vic said, he's not a cop and never was). Although I doubt it'll happen, I would love for him to have his comeuppance by the end of the season.

Favorite episode and scene are both very hard because there are so many great episodes and moments through out the series and because so much of it is depended upon other episodes and moments. Although, I have to say when Kavanaugh finally got his comeuppance is definitely up there (along with when he fucked up Vic's drug operation with the fake killing of a cop). Shane killing Lem is also up there, although I unfortunately knew his death was coming (combination of seeing a season 6 trailer of Vic and company shooting someone's grave prior to watching the series and accidentally noticing on Wikipedia that Kenneth Johnson left the show). However, I didn't know of the means of his death, so I was still pretty shocked when Shane dropped the grenade in his lap.

Great series all around, but I don't think it quite ranks up there as one of my top ten favorite shows ever (and no, Star Trek is not on that list :p).

My favorite is Dutch. The scene after he gets the serial killer in season one, where he goes out to the car is fantastic and up there with the best of scenes from any show.

My favorite scene is when Lem fights off these 2 latino gang members in a house with a shotgun. Like they wrestle to the floor and at one point, one of the gang members is controlling Lem's shotgun and is moving towards his head. Lem manages at the last moment to push the gun away from his own head when the gang member fires.

I was not impressed with episode 1 of season 7.

Season 6, and now season 7, are getting unnessarily complicated and hard to follow. Just IMO, YMMV
