The romance - will it go anywhere?

Touchstone and ABC are Disney, right?

Coz I'm watching Ed Wood right now, and there is both gay and cross-dressing characters in it. Once Upon A Time has also had some of their princesses and heroes be gay or bisexual

Yeah.. remind me how much money Ed Wood made? And how much Disney paid for the rights to do Ed Wood?

My statement stands and is universal for all studios and all major blockbuster Hollywood franchises, they will not be socially controversial of any kind (unless the movie is popular especially because it's controversial). They can be violent as hell but sexy times is always problematic in US culture (much less homosexual sexy times).

It's a small miracle Deadpool got made.. violent as fuck but R rated only (so i heard) because he has some pretty graphic (yet non-porn) sex scenes with his girlfriend. Had Deadpool been a gay character and met his boyfriend the movie would have never been greenlit no matter how much fans wanted to see it (unless they changed his sexual orientation).

It's Hollywood, if the next thing after Superhero movies would be gay movies you could have the biggest homophobe as a studio CEO but if it makes money it will be done.

And the second example? The ones which airs at prime time, took some Disney's most popular characters, and reimagined them as gay?

I liked Deadpool, but it's not that much of a 'miracle' movie in terms of content (this is a post Kick-Ass world.) Plus, Wade did say some come-on to guys in the Deadpool movie. In terms of displaying his bisexuality, he was pretty much the same as his comic version.

Speaking of superheroes, Disney has already introduced gay main characters in their Marvel universe. Captain Jack Sparrow from POTC is also bi.

They have? I'll admit, I'm no expert on the MCU, but the first result on a Google search is people complaining that a gay character from the comics brought onto Agents of SHIELD was turned straight in the show.

In Jessica Jones.

You could also make a case for Dottie (Black Widow Mach I) from Agent Carter. She does flirt with Peggy and she's definitely Single White Female-ing her, but the matter is somewhat muddied by her being a crazed assassin with a penchant for alternate personas.
