The Return of Ernst Stavro Blofeld?

Oh and there must be plenty of "Meeester Booond" and "Elimmeeeeenate 007" phrases in the new movie, oh and a white pussy....to stroke.

We all know that Sheen's playing the bad guy in Bond 23, but he's actually reprising his David Frost character... which is the fake identity that Lucian the immortal lycan is living under.

HA! HA HA! I see what you did there! You took two other roles that Michael Sheen played, and you made a joke! How funny! I've never seen that done before! Comedy gold, good sir!

Quick, make a Brokeback Mountain joke about Heath Ledger starring in The Dark Knight. No, wait -- how about Jack Ryan being in Indiana Jones?

Sheen seems like he could handle being a Bond villian, unlike some of the recent pups at the end of Brosnan's tenure. I like the notion of Quantum established in QofS, so unless they mean Quantum to replace SPECTRE all together, I would rather they go with the new organization. Although, it would be cool if they were redoing Thunderball. Did I mention that before?

Thunderball's already been made twice, I might have to kill someone if they make it again (although they might make it decent this time I suppose).

YOu know, I said before I'd like all the Bondisms back in the next picture, although I can understand if the hat toss remains lost. However, I thought of a way to bring it back! Why not have Craig in Commander Bond's uniform? He could come into the office pissed 'like he gives a damn' about the uni, toss his navy cap, miss, and knock over the coat rack, then the new Moneypenny can be behind him with a comment.

I think too much.

Damn! Surely they wouldn't change that! He has to be. At some point they've gotta go for underwater scuba action, and if they add a Moneypenny, wasn't she some type of RN, too?

And I thought my theory was full proof! Still, tossing a military cap is easy to pull than him visiting M with a Banana hat or something.

^ Wikipedia does say that the character was in the Royal Navy from ages 17 to 30 and quote the Casino Royale website so I'll believe it.

^ It said in CR that he had been in the SAS. As I understand, it recruits from the army, not the navy. If he'd gone from the navy to a special forces regiment, that would have been the SBS (Special Boat Service).

My Father was a Green Beret, and now in American movies if you're in a bad ass military unit its usually the Rangers. Why in Brit flicks are the bad ass military boys always SAS? I'm sure they are truly good at what they do, but every show line drops SAS or Hereford anymore. What was wrong with the Navy? Hornblower's in the Navy and that's fine with me! ;0)

What I REALLY want to know is, how long until we get the rebooted Mr. Wint and Mr. Kidd, and who is going to play them? :guffaw:

The SAS are renowned as being the peak of special forces, many see them as the best special forces in the world. Now I don't want to get into whether they are better than Spetsnaz, Delta Force etc but SAS is good shorthand for bloody hard! Even though Bond is navy, I'd be surprised if he hadn't spent some time in Hereford. SBS would make more sense.

Captaindemotion, Vesper says that MI6 recruits SAS types, I don't think it's actually said in the film that he definitely was SAS.

^ You could well be right. It's been some time since I saw the movie. Though, if I recall also, in interviews, Craig was explaining the decision to get such a bodybuilder type physique and said something along the lines of 'Well, this guy's just got out of the army, he's been at a loose end, we reckon he'd have been working out a lot.' Not canon, I know, but I haven't had anything from the new series (either on or offscreen) to refer to Bond being a naval man.

The new series hasn't specified, but Fleming's original character held the rank of Commander in the British Royal Navy, so it's probably safe to assume the reboot wouldn't deviate from this fairly crucial piece of Bond lore.

^ Fair enough, I'm quite happy to be proved wrong. I did think it was a bit surprising that they would do away with Bond's naval history, even for a reboot.

Incidentally, while it seems to be widely accepted that Sheen won't be in the next movie, if he was, it might add a little something to the coincidence corner of the 007 universe. As is well known, he's played Tony Blair on numerous occasions to date. Meanwhile, a movie version of Robert Harris' novel The Ghost, which deals with an ex-PM who is a thinly (anorexically) disguised Tony Blair is being shot. Who's playing the Blair role? None other than Pierce Brosnan ...
