The Return of Ernst Stavro Blofeld?

IMDB:
British actor Michael Sheen is set to sign up to the next James Bond movie - to play legendary villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld, according to U.K. reports.

True it's from IMDB and the Daily Express, but this raises a good question: is it time to bring Ernst Stavro Blofeld back to the screen?

NOTE: I do know of all the legal holds on the character and SPECTRE.

I say go with a brand new Character that reflects the time we live in today. Al Pacino was once mentioned as wanting a role in QOS.

awww I was hoping Michael Sheen would be Q but am not surprised hes in the movie since one of the guys writing it did The Queen.

Since they went to the trouble of setting up a new evil organization, QUANTUM, in the last movie, I can't see why they'd want to bring back Spectre and Blofeld, especially with all the attendant legal hassles.

Yeah, the legal aspects will most likely prevent it. SPECTER was supposed to be in The Spy Who Loved Me but they couldn't get the rights to it.

It could, possibly, be permitted because MGM is now owned by Sony. Sony and McClory's estate may have reached an agreement because of the death.

I just wanted to add that I didn't mean to imply SPECTRE would also be back. Just Blofeld (in the games Blofeld has returned but as the leader of OCTOPUS).

The Kevin McClory/Thunderball business has largely been resolved.

I was lucky to get a McClory-fied version of NSNA from his web site way back in 2005, where he had replaced all that crap generic music in the movie with Bond music scores.....and what a difference it makes to the movie overall, its because a Bond movie in every sense.

Now i just have to decide when i pan the movie will it be because he has ear lobes or is without.....

I'm calling bullsh1t on this. Over on another thread, once it was announced that Peter Morgan was writing Bond 23, everyone started joking that Sheen would be in it. This just sounds like typical lazy assumption journalism from the renowned Daily Express.

We all know that Sheen's playing the bad guy in Bond 23, but he's actually reprising his David Frost character... which is the fake identity that Lucian the immortal lycan is living under.

I'd sooner see him play Brian Clough (from The Damned United) as the villain, coming out and making Bond polish boots in the corner of a dressing room (as he made Roy Keane do on his first day playing for Nottingham Forest) or slapping his subordinates round the head (as he once did to his own supporters when they invaded the pitch before the end of a match), before kissing them to apologise (which he did the week after).

I call bollocks on this - they've only just hired the writer, so the script isn't there yet, there's no director yet...

Clear case of the hacks getting their info from speculation on message boards.

What this man said.

Wait, so neither Tom Cruise nor Nicolas Cage are playing Iron Man????

But the rumor of Joel Schumacher making Batman 5 dark and gritty, with Michael Madsen as Batman and Kurt Russell at Gordon, that's definitely true, right?

I've never been a Bond fan really, but I do think it's time one of the iconic villains came back. Let's face it: the last five or six haven't been particularily memorable or competent.

You forgot Howard Stern as The Scarecrow.

Well they have been building to a sort of SPECTRE organization over the last two movies, and Sheen is a really good actor. I'd be interested to see how this is written into the movie.

Roger Moore killed Blofeld...although it was never fully stated it was Blofeld...

I don't want Blofeld again, I want a mastermind who is similar in position but different in many other ways. I don't want Mr. White to be the main villain either, he is better off as a Kobayashi-style figure.

Which one of Martin Sheen's relatives is Michael?

Why not some cool, imposing actor?

Or, WHEN DID BOND VILLAINS BECOME EUROPEAN METROSEXUALS?
