The Punisher-- Marvel/Netflix

It's a promo, not an actual clip from the show meant to be taken literally. Good gravy.

And rhetorical questions aren't meant to be taken literally either. Obviously it's figurative, but some metaphors are clumsier than others, and even figurative designs can include poorly chosen elements that distract the viewer due to their incongruity.

That teaser coming on the heels of Defenders lets me know they are ready to get us excited about their next project. Most of us probably are and I should hope late Sept we get an actual trailer with footage worthy of discussion!

I don't know, man, how did they project all that footage of past adventures onto the Enterprise when there were no projectors floating around in space? And how did the Enterprise crew have footage of all their past adventures?

I officially hate you. That is absolutely my favorite movie trailer of all time. It still brings tears to my eyes, damn you.

They've released a new teaser giving us out first looks at the series cast.
The new stuff is just in the first 30 seconds here, the rest is the first teaser.

Earlier today the official twitter account for the show did a series of posts in morse code, which translated to the titles of the episodes.

  • 3 am
  • Two Dead Men
  • Kandahar
  • Resupply
  • Gunner
  • The Judas Goat
  • Crosshairs
  • Cold Steel
  • Front Toward Enemy
  • Virtue of the Vicious
  • Danger Close
  • Home
  • Memento Mori

Based on those episode titles, it looks like we'll see some of Frank's time in Afghanistan. I wonder if that means Clancy Brown will return?

I figured flashbacks were a given based on the episode titles but it's good to have that confirmed.

Hopefully Marc Spector does appear and it's a set-up/testing the waters for his own show.

I think the teaser trailer more or less confirmed flashbacks as well.

I'd like Moon Knight. I'm not sure Punisher is an ideal fit.

I think the suggestion isn't Moon Knight, just Marc Spector pre-origin and maybe set-up to that origin. Spector was a Marine and a mercenary before he became Moon Knight so interweaving their early histories isn't so out of the ordinary.

I was hoping Frank just needed a cab.

I hope they mention Micro's involvement with Rising Tide and his connection with Daisy Johnson, since she namedropped him early on in Agents of SHIELD.

I think they've worked in nods to AoS before, like using the name of a biker gang from the Lorelei episode of AoS as one of the gangs Castle hit in DD season 2. (And it's gone the other way, like AoS using the Judas bullets from Luke Cage.)

Although they don't use the name "Rising Tide" anymore, since they got complaints from a real-world environmental activist group by that name. Apparently the show created a fake website for the fictional hacktivist group as viral marketing, and it led to confusion with the real group's website. Usually TV shows' legal departments are supposed to catch such conflicts ahead of time, but they missed this one.
