The Prime Alternative

In my head, I really like something like this:

Scaled down to fit in our ship though, of course. :)

I absolutely agree with you in using that image for our PA E's Main Engineering

These other 2009 ST concepts would also be outstanding design cues for other areas of our PA ship ;)

What I meant, regarding Winston Smith's interior image
design, is that something like that could be used for our PA lower engineering deck for storage tanks and fabrication etc : )

If I were going for something Prime alternative, I'd have:

-behind-the-grill be the horizontal intermix chamber with diagonal plasma transfer conduits leading to the nacelles viewable in the distance
-shape of the room itself be the TOS shape, mirrored on both sides, with upper levels and catwalks, but modernized mixed touch/physical button interfaces with plenty of labeled displays showing various systems.
-vertical intermix chamber with integrated dilithium crystal housing (separate room made no sense), that looks like it can actually eject from the ship. It should be something between Enterprise and TOS/TNG's warp cores, maybe with a bit of nuTrek styling, but definitely a Prime warp core.
-isolation doors like TNG had, which make sense in emergencies
-two levels at least for main engineering
-doesn't look like a brewery or stainless steel pipe-fest with a few LCD screens thrown around and random water pipes for people to beam into.

I could draw a rough version of how it looks later on, but overall, I'd honor TOS in the shape of the room, but certainly make it much more functional with hints of TNG with a vertical warp core.

WinstonSmith? Hey, that name sounds familiar!

I actually ended up fleshing that design out a bit more before I finished it, if you were interested:

maybe the finished thing will give you some more inspiration? Anyway, I'm actually really glad to see it's inspiring people, that's really nice. Best of luck with your project! it seems like a really cool mix of old and new, and I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes from here! :)

That looks OUTSTANDING! Thanks!!!
also sent you a PM with additional info from our 2010-2014 PA project :)

That image is pretty close to what I would've liked to have seen on screen!

Likes: new aesthetic, general shape of the room, grill, triangle pipes, there's a second floor! (if there is more to be added, please do! I seem to recall there being mechanical rooms up there towards the pipes (Mirror Mirror?), and possibly more workstations)
Dislikes: there doesn't look to be a floor (could be the angle or it being a grill), no vertical intermix chamber (or I might need it pointed out)

I think that image is a great start, and a huge improvement over the brewery! Keep up the good work! Lots of talent here.

THats a near perfect rendition Winston. IT actually looks like it fits within the JJprise Interior, AND looks like it could fit within the secondary hull. Everything looks functional. I actually like that Engine Room. No, I love that engine room.

This version of the Enterprise is everything that the new Enterprise should've been. It is very respectful of the original Enterprise, and updates it reasonably - new phaser turrets (sorry, Matt Jeffries, one set of phasers is dangerous in space. Someone could hide aft of the saucer and never be in danger.), additional details on the saucer, impulse engines, and all over.

This, Deg3D, and Vektor - all 3 versions of the original Enterprise that do it justice. Keep up the great work!

Amen! I'd love to see what the bridge looks like - the classic look works in a full-detail HD/cinematic age!

^This

Thanks :D
here is a early 2010 draft animation Ricky (Madman11701a) Wallace built that has a nice slow pass of the Nacelle Domes (no Bussard collectors for us here) Check this out... http://www.mediafire.com/file/a4yhc9...etsTest_HD.wmv

FYI > On the 1/350 scale Physical model the Nacelle Domes have Custom electric motors (silent) that rotate two sets of visible fan blades, with special gold lighting FX motion effects on the forward end of each warp nacelle
- Think design fusion of TOSE + JJprise Domes)

Scratch Build Star Trek Shuttle

I sent an email off to Ricky Wallace and designer Rick Carthew, for some information on their amazing build of the Class F Star Trek Shuttle (if you haven't seen it yet, click HERE) along with a few pictures of my build and they have graciously asked me to post them here. So I will. It is the third build I have done using the left over kitchen blinds but this one is going to be a much larger scale. I am building it so I can use the 7" Art Asylum Figures from my collection, along with the shuttle. I have attached a few links to the start of the build. I hope you enjoy as much as I am.

Very nice work! Looks like it could easily be a practical prop for a show. Wait..... kitchen blinds?!?? :wtf: Clearly I do not possess the correct scratchbuilding skills! (Or any for that matter. ;) )
