I almost had, but more McGann and Tennant at the end kinda nudge it considerably.

Yeah the title of the show seemed at first a bit misleading but I'm guessing it was the Doctor's power to win 
Their Companions.
Jodie's era definitely hammered that point to death.

In this incarnation of the show that word was murdered.... Not Jodie's fault she's only doing what they write for her to do.
She did definitely feel peripheral to the plot for far too much of it.
I do wonder if Chibnall was given something of a laundry list and a bigger budget. "Make it 90 minutes, lots of 'splosions, it has to celebrate the BBC so bring back as many classic Doctors and companions as you can, and the Master, and Daleks, and Cybermen, oh and we can get you Bradley Walsh back as well, and Captain Jack...no, hang on scratch him, oh you've already written him in? Well swap him for someone else, no one will notice...
Basically it was one of those throw everything at the wall and see what sticks episodes, and to be fair some of what stuck was gold, mainly involving Tegan and Ace and the classic Doctors (plus Jo Martin).
In the end it kinda summed up the Chibnall era, I still remember that bizarre trailer at the end of The Woman Who Fell to Earth which didn't say "Look at the cool stuff we've got coming" but instead said "Look at all the cool guest stars we've got coming" Chibnall has always seemed obsessed with surrounding the Doctor with as many guest actors as he can and it's rare that Whittaker was able to force her way to the fore when that happened ( The Haunting of Villa Diodati a rare example of what Jodie could do given decent writing)
the 85th regeneration so it's along time away for the Doctor but for us it's been true for decades.
I find it rather amusing how irritated some people are by the term "fam." 
I agree. Just like the Star Trek fans who got their panties in a bunch over Raffi calling Picard "JL".I find it rather amusing how irritated some people are by the term "fam."
Though after 30 years of rather stuffed shirt Picard it was rather out of the blue.
Except he was already getting out of that by "All Good Things...", more so in the films, and the working relationship between Picard and Raffi was well time after the films. Plus, the project they were on was different from a ship environment.
But this isn't really the place for that argument.
Any more out of the blue than Ace deciding to call the Doctor "Professor"?
