The Picard Paradox

The Kelvin Timeline exists parallel to the Prime Timeline. It didn't replace it.
You just wait. After success of of Picard they’ll throw more money to both Chrises and revive it. In ST4 they’ll travel to the kelvin universe 2399 where they will see fully haired Picard at his vineyard who never joined Starfleet. The interwebz will explode. :)

"How can the Kelvin Timeline exist and the Prime Timeline exist at the same time?! Doesn't one overwrite the other?! How can you have Star Trek 4 and still have Discovery and Picard and Lower Decks and Section 31 and..."

Not that I believe any of that myself. I think they can exist parallel, but not everyone does it seems.
Yeah, that's the "discussion" taking place in this thread, but I'm not sure why a new Trek movie would alter what we already have in hand.

There is no paradox, there is the TOS/TNG/DS9/VOY/DISC reality and the Kelvin reality. That was the stated intent of the Kelvinverse creators.

Two words. Multiple timelines.

Picard = Late Sequel to TNG, DS9, and VOY.

Forget the 2009 film if you have to, if it makes things easier.

Romulus is destroyed and whatever happened to Spock and Nero after that doesn't matter because we're not going to see it here. This is everything from Picard's perspective. And as far as he's concerned, they died. He doesn't know about any other timeline that branched off from the one he's in.

The Kelvin Timeline exists parallel to the Prime Timeline. It didn't replace it.

Sorry, for bringing up the subject again. I am new here and been bedridden for the last five years. Thanks for the update of two Star Trek "timelines" (whatever that is!).

All I can respond with is... that is a shame.:sigh:

It's okay. No worries.

I have a cold I'm getting over and I'm an insomniac to boot.

That’s IT!! Now we know the real reason Kelvinverse movies are not in production. CBS doesn’t want to risk an accidental erasure of its All Access universe.

(Or not. :p )

Frankly, I think the split can be called the "CBS-verse" and the "Paramountverse" breaking apart.

:)

But again, I point out that this being Trek, you can just use the means of time-travel to explain away the inconsistencies. In ENT, taking Archer into the future results in Daniel's future being immediately destroyed because Archer is SPECIALtm.

However, if this was how time travel worked, then taking Mark Twain into the future would have resulted in everyone wondering who the hell this random Antebellum South writer who hated slavery was.

So I go with the idea that RED MATTER wormholes work differently.

Might it be that some folks have forgotten or are ignoring what the meaning of Parallel is?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One can even deduce its meaning without any words.
;)

Fans: We want more Star Trek!
Paramount: Ok, here you go, three new Star Trek movies!
Fans: That's not the Real Kirk(TM)I!
CBS: Ok, in order to separate "TV Canon" from the 2009 movie franchise, we're gonna make Paramount call it an "alternate timeline" (officially named "Kelvin Timeline" or "Kelvin Universe")
Fans: Ok, can you please bring Trek back to TV?
CBS: Ok, here's Discovery.
Fans: War? Bald Klingons? Faster warp? This isn't real star trek!!! Bring back TNG!
CBS: FINE! Here's a show about Picard.
Fans: WHAT? The timeline has already been changed by Nero and the Kelvin, Picard isn't canon anymore!
CBS: NERO IS IN AN ALTERNATE UNIVERSE!
Fans: That's not how alternate universes work!!!!
CBS: JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!!! WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE??????

I do not accept that time travel creates permanent parallels, and not a timeline rewrite.
Time travel is fiction, it can create whatever the plot requires

"Admiral Archer's dog" and all.
Archer is a common human name, it could have been anyone, although I think they were trying to imply 150 plus Archer was still alive

It would explain his xenophobic tendencies (i.e. why he was so incensed at having to "break bread with the enemy" -
That phrase made no sense, unless he was refering to the Xindi, if he refered to the Romulans than the UFP did not break bread with them , they did not even see them for 50 years!

So then it is an always-existing tangent universe, definitively, via process of elimination/logical deduction.
Throw away logic, there is none in the Star Trek franchise, embrace the imagination of a cadet becoming captain and heads of departments overnight as if its 18th century Earth miltia

Burnham said that quantum signatures designate which universe that you are from.

Time travel does not, should not, change your quantum signature.
Hence my fanon that Prime and Nero were in the wrong universe, if he only they did a check

Hence my fanon that Prime and Nero were in the wrong universe, if he only they did a check

Like I said, in real world theoretical physics, it may be a pointless distinction.

It ceased to be "his" universe the moment things were changed.

But the original universe remained.

Edison's comment about "fraternizing with the enemy" must have referred specifically to the Xindi.
