Episode I is a flawed but good movie. I liked it thirteen years ago. I like it today. Screw the haters who think it raped their childhood. Expecting a movie made sixteen years after the last one in the franchise(which itself was a qualitative downgrade from the first two films in the series) to live up to all your glorious, diamond-encrusted expectations is asking a bit much. Hardcore STAR WARS fanboys felt that Lucas owed them the movie they wanted, and that's not how Hollywood works...I'm sorry. George Lucas has done some royally stupid things to his saga over the years and his new BluRay changes are(mostly) gratuitous alterations to sell more movies and rake in the cash, but the man made Episode I the way he felt it needed to be made. Piss and moan all you want that Anakin isn't the kid you wanted him to be or that there's too much talk about trade boycotts and blockades, but the franchise belongs to Lucas and he can make the movie he wants. He should have done a few things differently in my eyes, but that's just my personal opinion as a fan. I don't hate any of the STAR WARS films even if a couple were subpar. If these obese, Cheeto-stained fanboys typing up ad hominem attacks against Episode I in their mom's basements want a better Episode I then make it yourself. The film is what it is, warts and all. Claiming it ruined your perception of the STAR WARS saga or made you want to kill Lucas with a shovel is your right and I'll defend it, but it sounds so childish and stupid. It's one thing to give legitimate criticism and want a movie to be better. It's another ball game entirely to claim it raped your stupid childhood.
It's just a movie, nerdboys . Get over it.
