The Party's Over?

Party over? Nope, the party's just staring to get AWESOME!!!

(Sorry my AWESOMENESS!!! is all CAPS, I just wanted to get everyone's attention)

For some people, the party hasn't even started, yet (the movie still hasn't opened in Japan)...

we have to look forward too..
the release of the dvd which probably will include the missing scenes and other
background material.

The "are deleted scenes and background material on the dvd canon?" discussion is good for six months right there.

And various "I wish they had deleted scene x left in the movie" threads will be good for years.

By the way, I love your avatar. The Avengers rock!

The long dead "Star Trek" franchise is in the process of rising out of the grave in an entertainment comeback that is on par with Lazarus coming back from the dead and you want to talk about the fact that their are not enough fanboy rumors about the sequel?

Wow. I didn't realize that only being off the air for 5 years meant Trek was dead. And no film in 7 years. There was a decade between TOS and TMP. The world came to an end. Star Trek was dead!!! OMG!!!!! Abrams thank GOD you came to revive that dead space beast that was Trek. OMFG!!!!! JJ you save my.

I do like the zombie Trek image you gave though.

^
^^The decade between TOS and TMP was one of Star Trek's most popular decades; that decade was the beginning of the "Star Trek Phenomenon".

The time between Nemesis/ENT and this film was perhaps the least popular stretch of time in Star Trek's history (i.e., most people -- even many fans -- stopped caring about Star Trek)

Trek wasn't dead but clearly dying. After the failures of Enterprise and Nemesis, there was little hope of Trek continuing as we knew it.

Basically, Trek had terminal cancer and neither radiotherapy nor chimiotherapy worked. Then, a miracle surgeon came but it didn't just remove the tumor but also did a gastric bypass and facial reconstruction. :wtf:

Nice. Too bad he "accidentally" lobotomized it as well.

Ahhh, but we'll always have sombreros!

Yes!

And we'll always have the TOS DVD.s, the TNG DVD.s, the DS) DVD.s, the VOY DVD.s and the ENT DVD.s plus re-runs on different channels, some good books and loads of fan-fiction.

No reason for pessimism, Trek will surviive. :techman:

Well I've been looking forward to the Transformers 2 sequel since I saw the last one in 2007, and we've all been talking about that non stop.

The same thing will happen with Star Trek too I am sure. There is lots to discuss and speculate on.

Not as much in the sense of characters. We can guess want missing transformers will now be included like soundwave. But in this case all major characters ARE there already.

But we certainly can (and we do in several threads) speculate of storylines and plots. And we will indeed keep doing that until the very seconds before the next film is release, sometime in 2011 or so...

This is Star Trek, the party is never over. After a few more months of exciting cheering and jeering here on the boards, the DVD will be out, and not too long after that we'll start getting bits and pieces on the next film and the whole thing will start all over again. Quite honestly, it's more like the party that never ends; Fourty plus years and still going strong.

I appreciate what everybody is saying, but after the years of waiting it seems so anticlimactic now. I think if everyone was really honest they would admit to expecting so much more than what we got.

actually it was better.
i could imagine far worse after trek v and tatv other wise known as that thing.

don't worry, when the DVD comes out we'll be able to pick the movie apart even more.

I look forward to the "Facts About Ensign Shecky" post reaching 30 pages.
:guffaw:

I'll be really honest... I LIKE THIS MOVIE. IT'S EXCITING! I'm still on an honest-to-goodness high about Star Trek. I've waited a long, long time for Star Trek to come back. I will enjoy every moment. :techman::bolian:

To be completely honest, after Enterprise and Nemesis, not as much as you might think. In fact after first hearing the direction they were going to go in with this film, I'd have to say it definitely met with my expectations. And that's not a back handed remark, I was actually fairly optimistic

I'm being really honest--I got so much more than what I expected.

Seems like lots of people agree, based on the word of mouth.
