Yes, but not murder one of their senators! The Federation could legitimately respond to the actions of the Romulans.

I guess an entire dead Starfleet crew never gets avenged.Yes, but not murder one of their senators!
Yes, but not murder one of their senators!
No it fucking wouldn't!It could be seen as an act of self-defense.
Would they then reveal that daddy was deeply involved in the business of a agency that does intelligence against foreign governments?I think this episode would have been massively improved if there had been a B-plot back on Romulus, where Vreenak's wife and children waited him to come home. It would be the birthday of the youngest daughter, and daddy had promised to bring a gift from Bajor.
No it fucking wouldn't!
Bullshit Vreenak isn't the Dominion. Romulnas didn't trust the Feds and didn't want to help them, and Sisko's actions proved that they were absolutely right about that.Vreenak's actions would have resulted in the destruction of the federation. Billions of people dying... I'd say that's enough to qualify as self-defense.

Yes, thus the whole mess is Sisko's fault to begin with!Be that as it may, Vreenak would have exposed Sisko's lies, making it impossible for the Romulans to trust the Federation and therefore ensuring the defeat of said federation.
There must have been some evidence that they would, since the Jack Pack concluded that the Romulans would soon be abandoning the non-aggression pact.Bullshit Vreenak isn't the Dominion. The story begins with Sisko. The response to the Romulans begins with the USS Prometheus.Yes, thus the whole mess is Sisko's fault to begin with!

Damn right it is!That's in Voyager though.
Damn right it is!
I don't think Starfleet would have approved of the assassination.
No, it wasn't. However, Moore, who extensively rewrote the script, was still good friends with Braga. There's really no need for their to be an overarching explanation. Sisko's operation is undertaken with the blessing of Starfleet, who can freely inform its officers or keep them in the dark about why policies are chosen.Well, the coherence between series is not always perfect.
I like In The Pale Moonlight but I think it is overrated, and that's not just because I dislike "It's a faaaake". If the writers wanted to really make a morality show about "The Road To Hell Being Paved With Good Intentions" then Sisko should have paid a real price. As it is, he punches Garak, makes some impassioned personal logs, The Romulans join the war, and Sisko is happy that less lives will be lost. Life goes on. The writers could have made everything backfire on Sisko but in the end, he got what he wanted.
