I think even at Nero's incursion, the spaceships and technology were far more sophisticated! I blame ENT and the silly idea of being set before Kirk's time and continuity issues!

Oh, my goodness, I hope not.We have to be careful about DSC spoilers, but I will say my opinion is: I don't think the original DSC universe is "our" universe either.
One explanation I heard for the Mirror universes to be so similar so as to meet together at Halkan is that some (Twilight Zoneish) force is trying to push them along the same path.
I just take the Mirror Mirror episode to be a "fun" chance for the cast to play "bad guys", to dress up in skimpy outfits, a great fight, for Spock to have a beard, the Agony Booth, the agoniser. Great fun to be had by all except maybe Chekov and McCoy. In the end we had a sort of uplifting message.
I think the other series didn't have enough "fun" with the concept. I found ENTs to be quite disturbing although I liked the twist with Hoshi at the end.
I think VOY did the only realistic Mirror Mirror type thing when they created the duplicate ship.
I found the episode a bit scary. Trips mutilation, evil Archer, what happened to the Vulcans. It was all a bit too serious, realistic and depressing, I suppose that fits in with ENT's style. I thought they could have lightened up a bit and have some fun with the concept. - just a little bit. That's a good take. The fight in Sickbay in MM is one of the series' best. I love how only Kirk can even attempt to contend with Spock. And Uhura saves the day!
I'm curious - what did you find disturbing about the ENT eps? The CSI Gorn let me down a little but otherwise I enjoyed the two-parter.

The gorn was terrible...

Yes, that was a good one. In addition to the Mirror two-parter I also liked the "Augments" episodes. I think there were three in all.A Gorn looks best in the green spacesuit monster variety, not a Crocodillian CGI cartoon! I remember I was so thrilled to hear of their return and it might have swayed me in favour of buying the series. The Borg one was good but not many others I felt...

Awesome; I never saw those two! Any idea of the titles so I can hunt them down?I wasn't too keen on those to be honest! But I was quite happy with the two parter which explained how Klingons look more human in TOS! As soon as that guy lost his cranial ridges and his epicanthic eyebrows started forming I knew the best Klingons were back!

Thank you!Affliction and Divergence I believe! Not sure where you can watch them though unless you buy the fourth season on DVD!
