I posted this elsewhere (I don't remember if it was TrekBBS or not...), but in Seth's show, replicator use appears to be much more controlled than on Trek. They had to go to a separate room to replicate cloths (Was it cloths? I don't recall now). So apparently they cant' just replicate cloths from their quarters' replicators. I wonder what else is controlled when replicating.

It could just be the limitations of the size of the replicator's slot. In TNG we see a very similar "replicator room" in "Data's Day" where there's a separate room people are in replicating large items, namely in this case gifts for Miles O'Brien's wedding. That's the impression I got. The replicators in the rooms are small and can't produce items larger than the slot they're in, to replicate larger items you have to go a larger machine. So there's a "replimat."

I suspect there's "plans" but I'd think the show would need to be on "firmer ground" first. It's only been a handful of episodes with little indication (other than assurances from MacFarlane and the general assumption of Fox's dedication to him) of a second season. So while there may be plans, it's unlikely they're in any kind of action yet beyond design phases.

I find it hard to believe in both shows, frankly. It's odd Trek would even do that (I still can't recall that scene, even now told about it). We're talking about replicators that can make all kinds of complex stuff, so why not replicate folded cloths, so it fits in the regular slot? Why not replicated it pre-shrink wrapped so it really really fits in the smaller slot?

Then of course the next thought is: Why do the slots have to be so small to begin with? Why are crew forced to have to go some place to make or replicate cloths?

I could understand if it was something large that you can't compress or make in reasonable smaller parts to assemble, like a chair or a bed.

I wish writers would put more thought into this so I don't have to get mild nerd rage.

I've recently decided that I enjoy watching and looking forward to The Orville much more than ST: Discovery. And that kinda makes me sad in a way.

I'm for sure going to hold on and stick with Discovery, mostly because I want to see ST again, but also because I am interested in how the producers are going to reconcile all the apparent variations from canon, which they say they are blatantly aware of and intend to explain/correct with story.

Agreed.. thinking about it that way, I can see that the compliment each other very well.

Guess I am just going to be unbalanced- still not going to pay CBS for the privilege of seeing if I like watching ST-D or not.

The Orville is a great show- not a joke a minute fun fest like the trailers and promos suggested. It has on several occasions ended the show on an uncomfortable note, leaving you to ponder what just went on instead of the typical wrap up happy ending.

The Krill are an interesting species- their religion considering all other alien races to be soul less animals not worthy is an interesting twist.

So in "Majority Rules", the shuttle cloaks as it's heading down to Planet Reddit. We haven't seen any Union ship or shuttle do that before, have we?

No, we haven't but we're only a few episodes in and haven't seen many ships/shuttles or situations that'd call for the use of a cloak, so...
