The Orville season 3 - first look

not having any luck find broadcast details for Canada.

A reddit thread from two years ago was it was going to be on citytv as were the first two series but it's not showing the schedule. Another from 4 months ago talked about CTV but it's not showing for CTV-Scifi (but then why put anything new on when you can loop TOS/TNG/DS9/Voy endlessly) so if ctv has it then it will be on crave :(
It is definitely going to be on Disney+ in Canada, which definitely rules out any other streaming service like Crave. I wouldn't hold my breath about it being on broadcast TV, to be honest.

It is on Disney internationally. At this point, the only thing that will stop a fourth season is if Seth does not want to do one.
I don't know about that. It will need a massive investment from Hulu. And it doesn't seem to be doing too well. According to Flixpatrol, it has not managed to make the top ten on Hulu, even for one day.
Strangely, it has made the top ten on Disney+ in several international territories, particularly in Europe, despite serious competition from within that service (though it is far behind Obi-Wan Kenobi). Maybe not being up against Stange New Worlds makes all the difference.

And...you know...having to negotiate new contracts with the entire cast since their contracts are now expired and their options not picked up.

I didn't like the anti-suicide message. I'm so tired of other people trying to take freedom of choice away from me. This world is wretched. We leave people starving and homeless for the sake of mere profit. We try to strip away other’s autonomy for our senseless need to control other people's lives that have nothing to do with us.
The reason why you bastards are against suicide has nothing to do with compassion, but everything to do with your megalomaniacal need to rule over others to make your puny mortal lives feel important, to play god. Suicide is an offense to your ego."How dare that person defy me by taking their life. I decided when they die." Thats what it all boils down to. If you truly cared about others then food wouldn't be thrown away because it can’t be profitable. I should have the right to be at peace if I want to. It's MY RIGHT.

The Season 3 Discussion Thread is probably a more appropriate place for this post. Or is it also YOUR RIGHT to post what you want where you want?

There is a whole lot that is disturbing in your post, but going into a psychological assessment of self-murder and the reasons behind it is probably for the Neutral Zone (another thread on the board). Assisted Suicide, a decision made in conjunction with a physician and psychiatrist, is legal in many countries for precisely the reasons you are saying--this is an act that takes place when the quality of one's life is very poor and will only get worse before a natural death--but it is not a decision that is made lightly and only when a person is sane enough to make rational decisions.

And that's the most important part in my eyes. You can only spoof what you love. You've got to get the details right. And in general you can feel with this show how much love everyone is putting into the small details. He's collected the best of the best around him.

I did not watch "A Million Ways to die in the West" for the jokes, but from the start you could tell that he wanted to do it properly - with the music, the set, the costumes. I've always had a huge love for the Wild West so this was right up my alley.
Did you read the novelization Seth McFarlane wrote?

Yes I did! Apparently he wrote it in the breaks on set.

The fun thing here is - my brother bought the DVD as a gift for me many years ago - long bevore Orville was made - as it had sheep on the cover which I love. Then he watched the movie and never gave it to me as he thought it would not be my kind of humor. And he was right - in parts, I certainly could have done without what Neil Patrick Harris did to that poor hat - but watching it for Seth I also found lots of things that I liked in it.

He certainly knows how to write a good story, and how to pull on your heart strings. And that's what I love about Orville as well.

Just 2 days to go! I'm very curious how fans are going to compare and contrast The Orville's third season with Strange New Worlds' first. It's the first time they're doing the same episodic format head to head. It's Babylon 5 vs. DS9 all over again.

If SNW is able to keep the level they're at nothing can come close or even overtake it, it is that good.

Orville is the best Trek out there before SNW premiered, a little more humor than Trek ( even DS9) but some pretty good episodes. If not for SNW it would be the best Trek show currently running ( without it actually being Star Trek).

How are they handling Yaphet this season? Write out? Recast?

I enjoy Orville but wouldn’t even put it higher than the new series other than Picard. Most of its episodes are carbon copies of Berman era episodes with stupid frat humor piled on top.
